Beau Rivage is hosting it's annual "HOLIDAY HANGOVER" BJ tournament on 11-13 January. 50000 in cash and table play-with a grand prizeof 25000. Past tourneys have been both invite and $50 buy-in. Call 1 800-827-8520 for more info. Mention code "hangover".

    update the calendar

How about updating the calendar with this info,:)
I called today and was told that it was strictly invitational with no buy-ins.

The Beau Rivage is notorious for telling callers that, and then if you show up you might be able to buy in anyway. Of course that's no help for anyone who has to travel substantially to get there.

    Holiday Hangover Beau Rivage

Ken is correct about the Beau and the manner in which they conduct BJ tournaments. The invitation that I received had been stamped comp, but underneath the stamp was a 50 buy in.
I would advise anyone interested in playing in this tournament to be persistent, and talk to more than one Beau employee.

    Promo Chips

What kind of promo chips are these? Do you keep them if you win or push your bet? Or does the dealer take them win, lose, or push?

How many entries do they expect to get? The prize pool is 1,000 entries. If this tournament has a big overlay it may make up for the erosion of the prize pool through the use of promo chips.

    Monkey,
The promo chips at the Beau are one time use except for a push or tie. This reduces their overall value significantly.
If one doesn't have to travel from afar, the tournament provides a nice overlay. Rooms for 2 to 3 days would bite a chunk of your bankroll, unless comps could be transferred from anothr MGM property.
I've played this tournament for the past 3years and have seen as many as 400 entrants. The majority of those are comped but with the 50 buy in, a large number of locals participate, and many of those are good to excellent tourney players. The last tournament that I played at the Beau had a much smaller # of players than the above mentioned 400.
Good luck to all participating. Hope to see some of you there.

Forgot to mention that the Gulf Coast has some excellent golf courses within a limo ride(for you high rollers) from the various casinos. For some of our northern BJT ers, might be a good time for BJ and golf. Currently 68 degrees and sunny at 1:20 pm Friday the 9th of Jan.

    Rub it in

Six inches of new snow this morning, 3 to 8 more predicted for tonight, predicted HIGH ACTUAL temps for next Tue. and Wed are both below zero.
Truth is, I love it but I love it LESS each year.
