    The Horseshoe in Tunica is holding a BJT in April, 2007. The following is copied from the CALENDER posting of this event:

    Entry Fee: $1,000.00 USD (Reentry $500.00)
    Bankroll: $2,500.00 each round. (Non-Negotiable chips)
    Hybrid format.

    Limited to 250 entrants.

    Guests will play 2 rounds where the scores of both rounds will be combined. The top 45 scores will advance to the semifinals along with 4 wildcards. One re-buy period will be available on the 22nd hand of the 2nd round. Guests will receive $2500 in tournament chips for a $500 re-buy. Guests that have busted out are still eligible for a re-buy at the table at which they were playing. The winner from each semifinal table will advance to the finals. There will be a blind bet before the last hand at the final table which cannot exceed their current bankroll.

    Prizes:
    Total Prize Pool: $250,000 (Guaranteed)
    1st=$100,000 / 2nd=$50,000 / 3rd=$25,000 / 4th=$20,000 / 5th=$15,000 / 6th=$10,000 / 7th=$7,500

    Everyone who makes the semifinals (excluding the wild cards winners) will receive $500 in cash

    My question is: What does the FORUM think of this tournament? It has an interesting twist with the re-buys and could cost $1,500. I am thinking about going and wanted to know what others think.

    Tulsa rebuy format?

    Isn't this the way they did it in Tulsa? It seems like I read that in their rules. From what I understand you can't add on the $2500, all you can do is rebuy at hand 22 and play the final three hands (assuming 25 hands played), which means you really have a very slim shot at doing anything with your rebuy. It also says rebuys are only offered in the second round. I personally don't see the value of a rebuy unless you really needed to add something to your first round score and had busted out before hand 22.

    I read this a little different. My read is that you can rebuy irregardless of your chip count (wheather it's 0 or $50,000) and then you have an additional 2,500 in chips.

    I agree that a rebuy must be weighed against your total for the 2 rounds. In most cases, paying for a rebuy will be the same as using those 5 $100 bills to light 5 cigarettes but it could make a difference under special circumstances.

    Gimmicks for more money and the high rollers...

    I don't care for "ANY" additional chips sold during any round of play. This is blackjack, not poker, the thought of "ADD-ON's" is nothing I hope catches on.

    Now I am all for Re-buys so that a player may have additional chances to play more than once (expecially for out of town players). I firmly believe that a minimum of two re-buy's per player is the best way to allow players additional chances to advance and add to the prize pool.

    Several players have already made comments to Eric (Tulsa) about correcting some of the issue that occured during last weeks events, at least their gimmicks were only costing us $50. I think everybody agreed that they would rather pay more for a full round than half price for half a round.

    Now we have the Horseshoe in Tunica offering a $500 gimmick (and let's face it their High rollers will get comp-ed out) so it is a huge benifit to the high rollers over the majority of players who will be there.

    Once again, if the Horseshoe wants to offer additional chances for players to advance just sell an additional "FULL" round at $500, not just an add-on for the last three hands and I can promise they will get more takers and add a lot more money to the final prize pool as well.

    Now will I play this event? It is possible, it just depends on my schedule and of course I'll want to know all the rules ahead of time.

    I look at it this way, any open blackjack tournaments that any casino offers us is a good thing. All we can do is hope they will listen to positive comments to make their tournaments even better for both the casino and the players.

    Rebuy/add on tourney;

    Really didn't read a whole lot but only 2,500 in tourney chips for $500. With either an automatic slicer or bread knife one is bound to end up with bloodied knuckles on this one.
