I just added a tournament to the Calendar for a BJT at the Horseshoe - Tunica in June, 2009.

    Drawbacks:
    1) Expensive at $1,000 entry fee.
    2) For those who don't like accumulation, it is a hybrid format.

    Advantages:
    1) It is an open event with high rollers comped.
    2) SV (Seat Value) will be at least $1,000. SV will be higher, giving a positive equity, if the full 250 players do not attend.
    3) Unlike many tournaments in Mississippi, prize money is paid in CASH. No promo chips.

The entry fee is, of course, higher than many can afford but so is the prize money. So if it's within your means, instead of B****** and Moaning because of the lack of open tournaments, here is your chance to show you support such events.

  2. My invite was in the mail today. Luckily, I can get in for $500. Hope to see you there toolman.

It'll be good to see you again - it's been a while. Looking forward to it. I haven't played any tournaments at Harrah's-Tunica lately since they seem to have changed to all invite only. I don't play enough there to warrant an invite.

Now if we can get a few more for the Horseshoe-Tunica event, that would be good.

Deb and I wish the best of luck and great cards to both of you - and the same to any other BJT.com member who attends this event! :D

  5. Just a note. I registered for this tourny last night. My invite said that this offer included 3 free nights. Last night they told me that the only night they had available at the Horseshoe was Thursday night. I wound up at the Harrah's (the old Grand) on Friday & Saturday at a cost of $30 per night. That is no big deal as long as my alarm clock works properly.

They are just screwing with you. Thursday, May 7, 2009, I was able to get a room for Friday and Saturday (June 12 and 13) comped at the Horseshoe - but no comp for the tournament. At that time I had my choice of 3 different levels of rooms. I seriously doubt they filled up for the weekend so quickly since the invites just went out. I'll guess your play warranted a discount for the tournament but not enough for a room. In the past they have saved the Horseshoe rooms for their HIGH ROLLERS in this type of tournament. But at least you got to stay cheap.

  7. I may e-mail the host from Harrah's Tunica that escorted us to the Millionaire Maker in 2007 and see if she can take care of that room charge. It's no big deal either way but free is always better than cheap.;)
