New to the site and it looks really nice. Should help a lot. I need some help trying to come up with a betting strategy for a tournament I play in every week at one of the casinos in the area. Here’s the set up: $1000 in chips, 12 hands , max Bet $1000, 6 tables 5 at each table, 4 rounds, top 5 scores for the night move to the finals (that is right not one from each round. So you can have all 5 coming from one table in one round. Doesn’t happen very often but it has.), Buy in is $10 per round and most players buy in for all 4 rounds. Most of the time a score of Between $4800 and $6000 gets to the finals. Ties are broken by a playoff hand with the winner advancing. At the final table you play against the other 4 players. Winner gets $750. The others are paid in diminishing amounts down to 5th place of $75. My questions is what kind of betting strategy should I adopt. Real aggressive, laid back or what.
Strategy In my opinion, bet max and keep after it until you get to what ever chip level you think you need. If it is 5000, then get above it. Then you can bet minimum. If you know scores from early rounds and are playing late, then you will have an idea what you need. Larry
Strategy Help … Larry is correct with his goal pick of $5K according to Stanford Wong’s equations from “Casino Tournament Strategy”, please note however that number is dependent on how the flow of the cards have been and can swing plus or minus 1.5x of the original bankroll. The limit of 12 hands in accumulation is going to play a big part in any planning, so other factors need to be looked at. What is the split limit? (RS4 or RS3) Is there Double Downs After Split? (DAS or NDAS) Is there re-splits of Aces or is it one card on each? (RSA or NRSA) Lastly what is the minimum bet and betting increments? These are all items that need to be looked at to plan for the 4 qualification rounds. Plan on having a qualification round strategy and a final table strategy that are totally different from one another. ee
Welcome Glad you made the jump to this site. (This thread actually got started over at blackjackinfo.com, for those that didn't see it. Rather than continue over there, I'll consolidate the two below ...) I'm not sure of the mathematics of this, but if I'd set a good total in an early round, I think I'd still be tempted to sit out the next rounds until such time as I knew I had been overtaken, and what my new target must therefore be.
ee The game is played pretty normal Split Aces with one card down. Double Down on any 2 cards, Re splits. Min bet 25 and no restricting increments. The final table I understand and can manage that as it is played against the other players. I just need to get to the final table and haven't been to successful the last 4 weeks. Thought if I could find a good money management system it might help. Thanks for your help Rick
Where ... ... is this tourney and is it on the calendar? I did not see any minis that look like the hybrid format. Check your p.m. see if there is anything to think about. ee
