I saw the Calendar posting of this event. Seems like they reduced the prize pool and made this into a 1 day event. I do have some questions:

    1) Can re-buys be made for Round 2 or are re-buys limited to Round 1?

    2) Historically, what kind of attendance have they had in the past?

    3) Are betting limits the same for each round? I see in the past that Round 1 had a betting limit of $500 but Round 2 had a betting limit of $1,000.

    Thanks.

I will try and answer question from my mailer

Yes prize pool is reduced by $5K due to terrible turnout for the last 6 monthly elimination tournaments and days cut down to 1 due to customer request and confusion.

Rebuys are made in round 1 only. For every session played in round one you will play the "same" session of round 2.

This format has historically done well for this Casino 90% full last year.
This year I am not sure because you have to pre-register to get hotel discount and there were several players that violated EV rule just to play accumulation format last year.

Limits are min 50 max 1000 in 25 increments for both rounds is implied in the rules but not absolutely stated.

Thanks for the info but I need a little clarification. I don't understand what you meant by "violated EV rule just to play accumulation format last year". What "EV rule"?

    EV rule 2 hr travel

This forum decided that the maximum travel distance for this tournament last year was about 2 hours.
There were players that travelled as far away as 7 hours each way for the chance to play accumulation.
I travelled 5 hours each way to play.

    There was a decent turnout.
Accumulation style tournament, using combined high score from your best morning and best afternoon totals, paying high seven spots ($4,000 to $250).
$35 entry fee got you into both a morning and afternoon round.
Five tables of six players each round, for a morning and afternoon session.
They played 8 rounds so total was about 240 entrants. (most people made multiple buy-ins.)
18 hands per round, $3,000 bankroll to start, $50 minimum, $1,000 maximum bets.

Morning session had a high of $13,500 and two more at $13,000.

One player had a monster $20,000 in the afternoon session and won it with over $29,000. Several others were close, seventh place had $25,000.

I had an $8,950 in the morning and a $14,000 in the afternoon for a combined $22,950 and a most un-satisfying 8th place finish.

Wow, I'm just thinking about that monster $20K score in one round. This guy won a net of 17 max bets in just 18 hands! Incredible.

    20K round

Yeah, I heard he had three blackjacks in a row (paid 2 / 1) but he still must have had a few doubles and splits too, to make up for the hands that he lost on.

Jonny21 will never trust me again  . This is the second tournament in the last month where I told him I would be there and ended up not showing up. I'm in the middle of doing some remodeling and had to get things ready for next week when my help shows up and I couldn't spare the time to travel to Bettendorf. Sorry Jonny21.

From looking over the results, it looks like I didn't stand a chance of winning anyway so I saved myself the time and aggravation. :D
