Info on Oklahoma Tournaments?

Discussion in 'Blackjack Events (USA)' started by Capt.BlackJack, Feb 4, 2006.

  1. Looking for some information from the forum on Oklahoma BlackJack tournaments. Does anyone here know the weekly schedule of Tournaments in and around the Miami, Oklahoma area? I'm looking for info for Quapaw, Buffalo Run, and Bordertown in Seneca. Also TX, I was reading a post in another thread about Tulsa may start having more big Tournaments, any more word on that?

    Looks like April

Hi Capt. I talked to them last night about their next BJ tournament.

April is what is being discussed at this time. I was informed that like in the passed any players with 40 or more hours will be comped into the tournament. But it will be open for a $300 - $500 entry fee.

Eric Woods (Cherokee tournament director) is wanting to get bigger tournaments started in Tulsa (draw in players from out of state). I know he has taken several of my suggestion to heart for this next tournament.

Changes for the April event will be:

    1. Comp their big player, but open the tournament for all (They are adding money Big money to the tournament, more then enough to cover what they comped out).

    2. Start all players with an equal amount of chips (make it fair for all).

    * 3. Lower the starting amount of chips to no more then $1,000 (I'm really pushing $500) in no cash value chips.

    4. Lower the betting limits to $10 - $500 is what is being discussed, (I'm pushing $5 - $200 limits).

    5. Surrender will be offered for sure.

    6. Spliting Aces (not sure if they will keep 3 or go to only once)

    7. Blackjack payoffs will change from 2 to 1 to 3 to 2 payoff.

    8. Numbered chips will be used instead of the flip cards for count down the hands.

    9. Table cards will be used and kept on the table.

    10. Number of hands played will increase from 18 to at least 25, I have suggested between 24 to 36 hands.

    11. No more then six players per table.

    12. Two players advance throughout the tournament until the finals.

    13. Wild cards draw "IF" needed.

    14. Forty nine dollar room rate for all tournament players.

*15. Discount on entry fee ($25-$50) for early pay and sign-up, (at least a month in advance).

NOTE: The * next to some of the numbers are items that are not set yet.

If there is anything I missed please post it or PM me so I can suggest it to Eric before they submit the rules to the gaming control.

The regular games do have a .50 to $1.00 ante, but they add a lot of money to their tournaments so it should be worth checking out.

    Thanks,

    Rick

  3. Thanks

Thanks for the info TX, definately will come to Tulsa to play if the times and dates are good. Do work late on Fridays, would they start these Tournaments on Friday nights or Saturday? If Friday Nights, I know some Tournaments at other places in the past have allowed the late Friday night arrivals to play Saturday morning and then continue into the next round if they advance. May have to make some weekend trips to get my 40 hours in, usually go to Miami.

    Sorry about that

Yes they will be weekend tournaments (sorry I forgot to mention that). Resistration on Friday/Sat., play begins on Sat. around 9:00 am.

I also forgot, their will be guaranteed re-buys for all. I am pushing for guarantee of 2 for everybody.

Re-buys would be at half the entry fee, ($150 to $250).

I believe offering re-buys are a big part at pulling in out of state players.

If you haven't made it up to Tulsa yet, they have a great BJ area in the back that is the BEST location I have ever seen for a BJ tournament.

They have about 16 BJ tables in two pits and could offer 24 BJ tables if needed, (12 at two side by side pits).

The area where they hold the tournaments are Non-smoking section.

  5. Keep Me Informed

Definately will come when dates are set, keep me informed. Is this Cherokee Casino? Look forward to meeting you at the Tournament when it happens.

    Yes, Cherokee

Same here Capt., looking forward to meeting you.

I hope we can start getting even more casinos with their (Cherokee) additude towards wanting to host bigger successful BJ tournaments and making them fair for the players.
