I just posted an IP Biloxi event to the calendar: $100,000 Blackjack on the Bayou Entry fee of $499, reentry of $150, like their last event. However, that one was advertised as $150K. I'm not sure how this will impact the value.
Looking back at the calendar history of the Imperial Palace Biloxi, they had a $100,000 tournament in May, 2007. The entry fee for that was $299 which included 2 nights at the hotel. Looks like the EV on this event is taking a plunge.
I. P. Tournament Just wondering - who plans on making the I. P. tournament in Biloxi ! I will probably go. --------The Farmer
IP Tournament I'd go if I could line up some tournaments on the way down from St. Louis or some others in that area. Just to far for a single tourney. Any sugestions would be appreciated. tgun
Not Sure What To Think..... What I know: -Entry is $499./rebuy $150./Full Comp./Partial Comp... -Payout based on 300 players...historically if # of participants is close to 300 the casino has compensated funds for total prize pool...based on 9/07 $150K tournament. -Rooms for Two Nights Included... -Same format as 9/07 tournament... -1.$52.5K, 2.$20K, 3. 12.5K, 4.$8K, 5.$4K, 6.$2K, 7.$1K, Total $100K -Register 3/7/08 3-9pm, Reception 6-8pm... -Casino does not fund the value of the comped player back to prize pool Not so much of a problem if the prize pool is guaranteed. It is possible, if this tourn. proceeds as structured, to have a major deficit in prize pool funds because those of us that will be paying full price will have second thoughts due to devaluation from prior tourn. value at this casino. The grey area is how much the casino will fund the prize pool if there are not enough $499./partial $ entries? I know some will play regardless but I still want to make the point. -All funds are paid back to the tournament... -As stated in a prior post: $100K tournament held on 5/07 w/ a $299. entry The lady I know at this casino who provides me w/ BJack tourn. info. is in the special events department. I have pleaded this case w/ her and she will pass on the info to the people who actually dictate policy for these events. Hate to see this tournament take steps backward.....the 9/07 tournament was one of the best BJack tourn. venues I've played. My gut feeling on this tourn. regarding changes is possible but not probable.....and I am an optimist! Will update when info becomes available. Jim
First post:joker: , I called the IP , they said the tourney is Invite, not open to the public yet, this would be my first tourney I will be in that area in march, wish I had an Invite
need more info! If anyone gets more details on the Mar. Biloxi IP tournament, please post. Thanks, tgun
I P tournament I talked to I. P. Wednesday - it is an open tournament. Matter of fact I have already signed up . all is good to go! .......... The Farmer
Let's look at flying in...... Tgun.......I just got the word and I wil try to se about flying into New orleans or near by.....If I get any info I might call you on the cell...... "May the wind always be at your back" Jascan
if it is "open" as you say, Im gonna try and make it. Im assuming you can sign up on the phone and charge it to a credit card. Im not too fond of biloxi in general, as opposed to vegas, I mean. but I needs the money. anyone else have any pertinant info re this tourney,..please do tell.
Mailing I got a mailing from IP yesterday with the tournament mentioned as the major event in the mailer. I hope to make it if I can talk the wife into going. It is a shame that the gulf coast is taking so long to rebuild.
It is open and includes a room I made my reservation today so I will see everyone in Biloxi next week. One question, did anyone find out what they meant in the flyer when it says "Qualify for free entry on March 6, 2008, see host for details."? I asked, but no one seemed to know. They transfered me to the tournament director Christian Shirley and all I got was her voicemail. If I find out I'll post, but if anyone else has a host they can call please let me know if it is worth trying to get the entry fee comped by coming a day earlier. If anyone wants to organize dinner somewhere Friday night that would be nice. Pat
March 6, 2008 From Kristen Shirley....... On Mar.6, 08 Five hours @ $100. avg. bet or 10 hours @ $50. avg bet ='s Full comp into tournament....not sure about rebuy. * As always call to confirm *
that's not a bad "comp", but for sure it doesnt include the rebuy. still its a 500.00, albeit inflated comp. the only downside is falling just short of being comped, going bust, AND not securing the 500. buy in money. THAT would make for a "bad beat" of another kind,..and a long miserable wait for the flight home.
March 6th comp I got the same message from Kristen just now. Thanks Jim for the post as well. I guess my question is what is the expected loss for playing five hours at $100 or 10 hours at $50. I guess I could do the math, but busy with work. I didnt ask, but I assume you could plop at a full $5 table and as long as you are tell them you wanted to be tracked for the comp it would reduce your exposure since the hands played per hour would go way down. While one is doing the numbers, what kind of bankroll would you need to handle the variance expected playing $100 a hand for five hours? She did add that you needed to inform the pit boss you wanted to be tracked for the comp and it had to be done between 9:00 AM and midnight. Pat
Damn but you are getting lazy . Doing the calculation takes less time than the time you spent typing your call for help. Assuming 80 hands per hour: $100 * 80 *5 *.005 = $200 expected loss. BUT the variance will be quite high for such a short period. You could easily win or lose $2,000 to $5,000 because you'll only be playing about 400 hands but wagering about $40,000. GOOD LUCK!
lol,..forget about the "math"..."expect", at least be prepared to lose a lot more than 200. for 5 hr play at 100.00 a hand, should things go "bad" or even "not so good",..AND you'll need plenty of back_up. especially if you "need" to win. good luck is right.
Maybe 40 hands per hour... I would think 40 hands would be more realistic number of hands played per hour.
In addition to the comp possibilities already mentioned, there are apparently plans for some sort of satellite tournament to be held on March 6th, with one or more free seats in the weekend event to be awarded. The Host Services desk gave me this info, but were unable to elaborate on further details. If you come in a day early, be sure to ask then.
