I just spoke to the VIP desk and they told me that the new owners of Bally's have discontinued all BJ tournaments. Please verify that I was given cdorrect info and that the July tourney is no more. Tinker
I was just there about an hour ago. I was told that the new owners have discontinued all BJ tournaments but they are keeping the slot tourneys. It seems that Resorts is not interested in BJ tourneys since they canceled the million dollar tourney at the Hilton as well. Most all managemant will be replaced at Bally's and at the Gold Strike.
pokernut, you say management will change at Bally's and Gold Strike. Did you mean Bally's and the old Harrah's (now Resorts)?
No since the MGM/Mirage merger the Gold Strike is due to have a major change in management. My next door neighbor said many are already looking for jobs and applying at other casinos. (My neighbor is regional director of accounting for Harrahs).
Bally's and the Gold Strike in Tunica have fired nearly all existing casino management and most of the hosts at both places. Also Bally's is removing 13 table games replacing them with more slots. The Maverick (their high limit room) will be closed. The Grand in Tunica will be renamed Harrah's and may end their BJ tournaments and will be removing about 25 table games and they may be closing their poker room, the final discision on the poker room has not come down from Harrah's corporate yet.
