No part of the new law criminalizes the act of a player participating in online gambling. Instead, it criminalizes the act of the casino accepting payment for the bets. However, I see at least one believable source publishing this list of states that have some sort of prohibition in place in their state laws. If you live in one of these states, check your local situation for laws that may apply at the player level. Illinois, Wisconsin, Washington, Indiana, Oregon, Louisiana, Nevada, South Dakota
In the words of Richard Crena "It's over, Johnny." While it may not be criminal to play, I'd be very concerned about any money I have in onlne gaming accounts now. I've cleared mine out and, unless something changes soon, I wouldn't deposit again until more info comes out.
In the words of Yogi Berra "It ain't over till it's over." "This is like deja vu all over again." "You can observe a lot just by watching." I think fgk42 said this about his Aruba trip::joker: "I made a wrong mistake." "Why buy good luggage? You only use it when you travel." "The towels were so thick there I could hardly close my suitcase." "It ain't the heat; it's the humility." Sorry I was on a roll. DRP
Hey would this be considered Black Tuesday for On-Line gaming? Ok, lets take bets on when UB.com shuts down. I've got 100 that says nothing happens this week and that the games continue - any takers? Crap those poker players rubbed off
What?!? Arkansas didn't make that list? Can't even get a freakin' casino here AND I live in a dry county! At least we have ponies, dogs and Tunica, MS!
dry county? Holy smoking! What year is it there??? Seriously,I've encountered some strange liquor laws in my life,including... Nevada-we all know that one 24/7/365 California-6am to 2am every day Utah-the state owned stores-a guy in a cage with a fridge, selling 6 pk shorties for $13.50,measured drinks at bars that have liquor,BYOB to those that dont(but you have to be a member or be sponsored by one) Colorado-3.2% bars,18+,until '86. They still sell "3-2" at grocery/convenience stores(they cant sell anything else). Liquor stores have liquor/beer/wine/cigs ONLY(no munchies, girly mags, etc)and are closed on Sundays. Until 1993,bars/liquor stores were closed on Election Day-old Kansas Territory Law. Northern Ireland-pubs closed on Sunday when I was there 20+yrs ago. I believe that law may have changed since then. Weird, huh?
Getting your money is a big concern, after all who and where could you sue? But we all wondered how honest these sites were before but now that they know their days are numbered, will they put "Bots" in play to win the big tourney money as well as raise the drop percentage of other games?
