Im moving this because it doesnt have 100% to do with WSOB, Tex mad a couple good points RE the business behind BJT and why or why not the casinos will even consider holding them. Of course we know many BJTs sit and wait for rounds to complete during the time casino managers want us to play. This is the key to the problem. So what do we do? Play? I doubt that will happen. I brought up a while ago that Palms UBT was charging 20% to hold the weekly event, players like JoeP normally would pound that chastise it into the ground and leave it for dead. Coddling and nepotism prevents this in Palm case. But, maybe this is a key to getting more games? Could it be that paying, lets aim lower , 15% is acceptable? Im not sure how to figure this but lets take an invite to a major casino. Just how much did you pay for that? The entry fee might be 500$ for example but just how much did you risk/lose to get that? It very well could be thousands of $. BTW back in the WSOB post I gave a link to a casino that offers WSOP "Super Satellites" The casino fee is 25$ entry fee is 175$(14%). The casino made almost 4 grand off fee, for game advertised at 146 players played, not counting the influx play they got on poker tables etc. They got that twice a month. Maybe thats not a lot to a big casino, but for a small casino its not bad. So, if we arent going to play the bad games casinos offer what are we willing to spend to get a game?

    Casino profit

The Comanche casinos (Oklahoma) I play at for their tournaments make a pretty good profit from them. Even the Tuesday tournaments at Red River makes $3 per 54 players. The quarterlies they make $50 per player, that want to pay, around 150-200 a piece at both casinos ($7500-10000). Now, the big money was the $1mil tournament in Dec 06. Players could pay up to $100 to get an extra 500 in chips to add to their 500 and that was for the two accumulation rounds ($200). 600 entries say at least 300 pay $200 that's $60000 for the casino. Remember the prize money for the quarterlies and the $1mil tournament come from the players pool (all money lost by players) the only cost to the casino are the dealers. Tournaments here are a good money maker for the casinos and players.

    Interesting

BJMAILMAN, it is possible to make money of BJT. Your examples prove this. For mini tournaments I think every casino should use the chip buy up even if its a dollar to get and extra hundred worth of chips. During the tourney play its nothing but working downtime for the dealers and a small "toke" to get more chips at least pays to the tip fund.

I think another good idea, for casino, is to hold multi day events. For example the recent OK tourney had people in the casino from 2-6 days it seems. Of course thats a problem for the players as it will inevitably raise our input via room cost, food, and game play.

I wonder where the casino managers are coming from? Does UNLV offer casino management courses? Or, are they working their way up from dealer to manager?
