Well maybe not but I think the clues to making WSOB a success for players is to mimic the WSOP. I search thru many Ca casinos looking for BJTs and see these "Super Satellites" from time to time. Check out this page from a Central Valley casino.

    Business, all business...

I love the idea of the WSOB offering these single and double table satellite's like they hosted this past month. However from a GSN stand point they will be losing over $25,000 for each seat they give a way offering the seats this way.

Now it is easy for us to say what we want, but bottomline is GSN is running the WSOB as a business and if they can get $50,000 from a casino to buy one of their WSOB seats why would they offer us a seat for as little as $15,000 (6 players at $2,500 entry)?

GSN does offer satellites for the WSOB, just they are mostly multi-qualifiers at smaller out of the way casinos. The bigger casinos don't seem to want to mess with the $50,000 fee while the smaller casinos find the fee worthwhile for drawing in players to their casinos.

So you can't fault GSN for not trying, it is the casinos that are not wanting to fork out the money for their players to offer them a chance to qualify for the WSOB.

I can promise you that GSN would be in every casino and that the prize money would go up too, if all the casinos were willing to buy seats and host qualifiers.

Maybe they will let us buy our way into the WSOB 2008 for $2,500.00 like they did last year? But WSOB should set up a website for BJ players to win their seat like they do with the UBT website. I think it is a good idea to let everybody try and win their seat to these high stakes million dollar tournaments.

    Question for you newbie?

Do you have your own business? If so would you be willing to offer your merchandise or services for over half price off just because your customers wanted it for less than you were selling for it for?

You have to put yourself in their situation, this is not about giving the players everything they want, actually that is a big part of the problem we are having today with BJ tournaments.

Back in the mid 80's and early 90's, we had up to 600 players and huge prize packages. Of course the casinos gave away free rooms, food, tournament gifts, and banquets for all the players for $350 entry fees. Then the casinos started noticing that they weren't getting the side action needed to to be giving all this away for free, (to be fair several players were ask not to play anymore).

Our biggest problem is trying to convince the casinos that it will be profitable for them to host "OPEN" blackjack tournaments and not just the "VIP invational events".

The truth of the matter is the players are who hurt us and now it is up to the players to dig us out of this hole.
With no more internet gambling, the players are going to have to start giving the casino action or we won't be having anymore tournaments for the small to average players.

I am trying my part to get the casinos to open their doors to us, but without the players support why should they?

Unless I can get more locations like (River Palms in Laughlin, Cherokee in Tulsa, or even my blackjack cruises) to give us a chance to show them we can make "OPEN" tournaments profitable for them, we might as well give up or start playing big enough average to get invited to the VIP events.

Now I understand you wanting to play for as small of an amount as possible to win your way on the WSOB, but just stop and think about what is fair, not only for you but to GSN. Once you can come up with a win/win situation is when GSN may take you up on your idea, at this time it is very one sided towards the players interest.

    satelittles

a lot of casinos have run some very cheap satelittles for poker tourneys - these are of a type where winning a cheap ($35) entry satelittle - gets you a seat in a higher entry fee satellite - and if you win the second satellite -then you get a seat in a real satelittle that winning gets you into the big poker tourney - multi-tiered satellites - has any one tried this for tbj?

    Satellite

For Bet21, I would suggest something like this.

    Step 1
    $1 + $0.10 feeder
    1 entry into the $10 + $1 feeder for every 11 players

    Step 2
    $10 + $1 feeder
    1 entry into the $100 + $10 feeder for every 11 players

    Step 3
    $100 + $10 tournament

I would run the $1 feeders something like every 2 hours each day, the $10 feeders every Saturday afternoon, and the $100 tournament every other month.

This sort of has something for everyone. For the very "beginner" players, they can start with the $1 feeders. For the players who have advanced beyond the "beginner" player status, they can start with the $10 feeders. And, for the "pro" players, they can just buy directly into the $100 tournament.
