I did it! I made the sweet-sixteen this weekend at the Hilton, and I've scored a seat for May's finals. I was then promptly eliminated from the semifinals, just like when I qualified last year. But, I got my $1000 semifinal money, and a seat in the Big Dance. On the last hand of the semifinals, I doubled 12v2. If I get paid, I'm in the monthly finals. I busted instead. But, like I've said before, the Hilton qualifier semifinals are the only semifinals where you'll ever find the losers smiling. They still get to play for a million bucks. I've had a very intense few days of tournament play, and I have some notes about some of the hands. I'll post them when I get a chance. But, at the moment, I'm headed to celebrate. Also on the way are final table details from LVH March, LVH April and New Frontier April. Thanks to Joe Pane for the hard work of getting me the details.
Congratulations! I'm so glad to hear that you were successful today. I consider myself fortunate to be in such distinguished company and am looking forward to seeing you next month at the finals! GF
Ah Crap !!! Our chances at winning the million just got a little longer with "The Boss" making the finals. Seriously though we're all glad to see Ken make it in. If it weren't for Ken and all the contributors to this site I would be laying on the beach in Florida next month instead of being at the LVH. IG
Congrats Ken on making it this far. I can just see you with the million piled high in front of you!!!!!!
Fantastic ! Glad to see you're in. I remember last year when we both made it in on the same table in the August tournament. Looks like I'm going to have to wish myself a little luck during the draw for the 8 remaining spots. I'll see you next month.
Congratulations! Congratulaitons! I'm glad you made the "big show." Now let's make the finals! I will see you next week at Ballys.
Bally's Tunica Congratulation.... to both of us... will we meet again in Tunica? Do you have numbers ($$$) for cut line? Or could someone post more info? It has been 7 or 8 years since my last visit in Tunica and I remember having some problems with transportation from Memphis to Tunica... any suggestions.
Memphis to Tunica? Rent a car. Thanks for the well wishes from all. As for Tunica transportation, the most convenient solution is to rent a car. Tunica is 30 miles from Memphis, and the casinos are widely separated once you get there. Rental car rates in Memphis are usually pretty competitive, so it's usually well worth it. And, yes, I'll be arriving in Tunica sometime on Friday.
Parlay, parlay...congrats! Ken spilt the beans about the rest of his fantastic weekend at LVH on the vpFREE site. Ken dabbles in VP. So, how many of those three royals and a set of Loose Deuces did you hit after the BJ tourney? My best parlay weekend was two quarter royals, a drawing win for $500 with one ticket in the drum and all with a gal I brought to Laughlin for the first time. She was ready to get on the bus if I hit something else. She thought I made a deal with the Devil. So what "sympathy" did you arrange Ken? -jacks
For those of you who don't know what oneeyedjacks is talking about, I had a truly amazing video poker run at the Hilton while there for the tournament. One of the games I like to play there is a Loose Deuces game with a paytable that returns 100.14% with perfect play, plus their 0.33% cashback. However, this game has huge variance. Basically, if you don't hit a royal ($4000) or four deuces (which pays $2500), you're a guaranteed loser for a day or two of play. However, I had luck beyond belief this trip. A royal on this game is a 1 in 43000 shot, and the four deuces come around about 10 times as often. I probably played 10 hours on that machine this trip, and had 3 royals and 1 set of deuces, for $14,500 in handpays. To answer oej's question, two of the royals were during the tourney, and 1 royal and the set of deuces came on Easter Sunday. In each case, I hit the second hand-pay within an hour of the first. I just hope the devil knows I was only kidding about trading in my soul.
Congrats on qualifying Ken and it sounds like the gambling gods were smiling down on you during your great run. I just discovered this forum and I'm sure I'll be up all night reading it. I qualified for MD2 in October. I look forward to meeting you next month and anyone else from the boards that will be there.
