Joey Porter Accused of Hitting Bengal

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Miami Dolphins linebacker Joey Porter was accused of punching Cincinnati Bengals offensive lineman Levi Jones after police said the players exchanged trash talk at a casino blackjack table.

Porter was issued a summons on a misdemeanor battery charge after the Sunday altercation that began inside the Palms hotel-casino, Las Vegas police Officer Martin Wright said.

"They went outside. In the valet area, one struck the other, causing a small laceration above the eye," Wright said Monday, calling the injury minor.

Porter could face up to a year in jail and up to a $1,000 fine, Wright said, but no court date was immediately available.

Porter, 6-foot-3 and 250 pounds, left the Pittsburgh Steelers after eight years and signed a five-year, $32 million deal with the Dolphins earlier this month. Jones, 6-5 and 307 pounds, missed much of last season with a knee injury.

"It seems they go against each other on the field, and here they take it into the public," Wright said.

Wright cited an initial report from a Las Vegas police lieutenant who said the two players had a history of on-field trash talking with each other. The Steelers and Bengals both are in the AFC North, and play each other twice each season.

Dolphins coach Cam Cameron said Porter, a three-time Pro Bowl pick, told him about the incident Monday morning.

"We will monitor the situation and refrain from making any further comment until we gather more information," Cameron said in a statement issued by the Dolphins.

Wright said a written police investigation and report won't be complete until at least the end of the week.

The Bengals didn't have much to say about the latest incident involving one of their players. Over a nine-month period, nine Bengals have been arrested.

"We have determined that he did not sustain any serious injuries," team spokesman Jack Brennan said of Jones. "Other than that, it's just not something that warrants any comment."

Ken if you were to notice in the Boycott Bet 21 thread yesterday Barney started with me with his post at 11 in the morning. Prior to that I did not even mention him in that post I was addressing Fred I didn't start this. I decided to answer him here in the free for all section.When that didn't work I responded in the thread where he was guilty of starting.I was told I could defend my self if attacked.

Ken once again you initially point me out as the cause of this.I was responding to BS post about me on the Boycott Bet 21 thread .I felt in the free for all section might be a better place.Please note that prior to his post slamming me on that thread I didn't even have a post there.When I did post there it was directed at FGK and my take on the Bonus money and the overall picture that Bet 21 has given us.

Before I returned here you assured me I could defend myself if attacked.Thats why I was doing nothing else.

My motive

Im scorned by his actions of twisting and deforming me. It was an outrageous exaggeration I said he was gay but he made it look as tho Im a homophobe and thats only the skin of the beast. Its a matter of fact, the only thing I did was ask questions and he attacked me like a pit bull tied to a tree because he couldnt or didnt want to answer. If you were to analyze the chain of events you would find a great percentage and I mean great percentage of time he attacks and I counter attack. It came to the point yesterday he made a threat of violence for any visit I might make to Barona. I think I just happen to be one of the many whom will stand up to this internet bully.

But as always all I need is a little jump start from you Ken, Im crawling back in me shell for you. Once again sorry to you and everyone else.

You could make this suggestion of no post as long as you want Ken. I really have nothing to say to him other than to defend myself or my position on certain matters when they are attacked.
