The Kiowa Casino in Devol, OK informed me today that they are looking to start up blackjack tournaments next month sometime.

I was told they would be offering weekly and quarterly events, nothing was said about an end of the year event.

When I asked about the format and rules I was told they are not sure yet what they will be.

Makes me have to question them on that, since all tournament format and rules have to be approved by the state. How can they be offering the tournaments next month when they don't know how they are going to run them yet?

This is a great little casino, and it has two pits of 12 tables each. It would be a great place to hold a tournament. I just hope they have someone up there that has a clue what they are doing when it comes to running blackjack tournaments this time.

I hope they keep the elimination hands like they did in the past.

One never knows about that casino...

    Real elimination format

If you're talking about early elimination hands I hope not. That format gimmick was designed for TV. I'd prefer they run a real blackjack elimination format with minimum of 24 hands per round, 6 players per table maximum, minimum of 2 players advancing each round, pay 3 to 2 for BJ's, have a maximum bet, and offer surrender.

As I have always stated, blackjack tournaments are so full of the luck, by adding the above rules at least lowers the luck factor and give players a little more chance to use some strategy. The early elimination formats forces players to make bets they normally wouldn't make to avoid elimination. In real tournaments, just because you may be the low bankroll doesn't mean you your out. Matter of fact I've seen many times where the low bankroll comes back to win their table.
