I heard something about a $1000 entry fee event at Grand Casino Biloxi in late May. Does anyone have an invite, or further info? If so, either post here, or add the event to the event calendar please.

    Thanks!

I was just there at the weekly tournament last Thursday and didn't hear anything about it. Something that big seems they would let us know well in advanace.

I think the rumors are true.

I overheard it from the marketing biggies a few weeks ago, but they weren't sure about much. I will ask them on Thursady what's up. I do think it is in the works. Late May is what I heard, as well.

It sounds like they will be comping a few big players and just getting other folks involved to help with the cost. I'll post Thursday night when I find out what's going on.

    Probably cancelled

Information received today indicates this event has been cancelled. While it's possible that information is inaccurate, it would make sense given the extremely short notice given for this tournament. It's tough to fill a $1000 entry fee event, and very tough when you only have a week and a half.

    Definately Cancelled

I went to the Host Office to get info on the tourney and they said it was cancelled. I asked if it was due to lack of participitation. She said no, but didn't offer any reasons. She said refunds were in the mail.

Seems like a very high entry fee for a $75,000 first prize. You could enter the MDBJ3 qualifier for the same price, same weekend, and have a reasonable chance to get your money back if you qualify. Am I missing something?

    100% equity

A 75:1 ratio of first place to the entry fee isn't really that bad. But the important determining factor is the fact that all the entry fees go into the prize pool. As I understand it, before this event was cancelled, it was supposed to be limited to 100 players, and the initial prize pool was $100K, plus any rebuys were to be added in as well.

I'd play a $1000 entry fee event to win $5000, if there were only 5 players involved. :joker:
