The weekly tournament at Sunset Station which is the longest running weekly tournament in Las Vegas has been cancelled.The last tournament will be held Oct 28.It seems lack of side play doomed this tournament,as did Green Valley Ranch which went to bi-weekly. That will be cancelled also.Can't say i blame the casino it does cost money to run these events and players need to understand that.
Bad news indeed. I assume that October 27th will be the final Green Valley Ranch event? If that's not correct, please let me know. I've already changed the event calendar to reflect the bad news.
More will quit as well I have been saying it for years now, if the casinos are not making money they are going to stop hosting tournaments. They at least need to cover their cost, that is why I think they should charge a fee like poker tournaments. I would rather bite the bullitt now for a little fee then to lose out on having no more tournaments. And by paying a flat fee up front 100% of the entries and reentries can go back out as prize money. I have heard several players tell me they wouldn't play in a negitive EV tournament, if things keep on the way they're going they won't have to worry anymore about playing in them, they won't have any to play in, they will all be cancelled!
Sunset Station BJ Tourn. I reported that Oct 28 will be the last tournament,I stand corrected it will be Oct 21 sorry for the misinformation.Myself and other tournament player will be seeking a new venue for this Thursday night tournament and we feel we will be able to get that done we will keep you informed.As far as the GVR tournament,the rumor is that it will be cancelled also.It has gone from every Wednesday to every other Wednesday.
Thanks for sharing. This is bad news as I had planned to try my luck at the Sunset Station. Oh well. Is the Boulder Station tournament affected by this moving around?
