LVA vs BJT forums

During these last few days, without posting anything, but still reading posts on both the LVA forum and this site, I came to a realization, and it does involve some more fuzzy math.

Joe recently claimed “that the most users on BJT at one time was 155 and on LVA the average amount of members on without including guests is in the 200 range.”

Okay, maybe so. But looking through the LVA forum for just a few minutes, it is very easy to tell that the greater majority of members (probably upwards of 95%) are busy on the other topic threads such as gambling, hotels, entertainment, restaurants, coupons, transportation, etc. Very few actually post on the UBT thread. To prove my point, I looked at the actual numbers for the last 10 days, since October 20, on the LVA forum. There have been just 22 posters on the UBT thread. Here is a breakdown:
Joe Pane: 52 posts
bjmace: 22
tedinnaples: 14
leftnut: 12
fgk42: 11
prof donkey: 8
sweetteabird: 7 (all were in a back and forth exchange with me)
toonces: 5
kensmith: 4
phbob200lva: 4
tss777: 3
lvhcm1: 3 (all were attacks)
rjk1027 (spore): two questions asked, no replies
9 other posters with 1 or 2 posts

That’s about 160 total posts, with Joe Pane dominating with 52. No one else came close.

On this site, in that same period of time…well, I tried, but the list was growing so long and I wasn’t even close to being halfway through the posts. I’ll leave the counting up to Joe, should he decide to knock this post and need actual numbers. But my main point is that there aren’t anywhere near the number of people posting on the UBT thread of the LVA forum. How many are reading it? That is an unknown.

On this site, no one was attacked (except for me by mace), questions were answered, information was exchanged, and news of upcoming events were shared.

On the other site, well...we all know what goes on there. And was any useful information actually shared? Was any knowledge gained? Was there a true exchange of ideas?

SO:
If none of us post on the LVA forum, it will pretty much become Joe’s blog with occasional comments from the donkey and mace. Mace may even realize that he will get more bang for his posting buck by limiting his comments to this site, since this will be the only place he’ll get any actual feedback.

With us not posting on the other site, Joe will either ignore what we say here, or copy portions of posts that he can attack. But so what? No one will reply and he’ll have no clue how many people are actually reading his blog. Eventually, he’ll stop, knowing that there’s no longer an audience, except for the occasional pat on the back from the donkey or mace.

And we can feel free to share our opinions about all things blackjack, without worrying about being attacked, criticized or called any names. Because we know that if you do that on THIS site, you’ll get banned.

What about those poor souls who venture into the UBT area of the LVA forum and would like a true exchange of ideas?

Once a day, someone who is a member of both sites can post the following on the LVA site’s UBT forum section:
For intelligent discussion on, and to get your questions answered about, blackjack tournaments, strategy, and upcoming events, please visit www.blackjacktournaments.com.

I’ve given myself a ban from posting in the UBT section of the LVA forum. Will anyone else do the same? If you choose not to, I respect that decision. After all, we don’t criticize each other on this forum, right?

 

I read where he said his board was more active than this. Funny thing is I think he thinks it really is! Hilarious.

 

Joe's probably talking about how many people are on the entire LVA forum site at any given time. That site is constantly humming with posting activity because it's the best source of ploppy info on the planet regarding all things Vegas. I'd bet that 99.99% of them don't give a crap about the UBT section. Fuzzy statistical manipulation.

How sad. Just a very few months ago, it was a great place to chat about TBJ in general and UBT in particular.

WELL MY 2 CENTS WORTH-I LIKE BOTH SITES FOR INFO BUT I MUST SAY THAT I ENJOY THIS SITE AND THE PEOPLE FOR THE MOST PART-THIS BICKERING BACK AND FORTH HAS NO USE TO ME - BUT I DO FIND IT AMUSING - THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR AT LEAST A YEAR OFF AN ON AND AS KEN SAID THIS WILL PASS AND I AGREE-IT SEEMS TO ME THAT SINCE KEN WAS BACKED OFF AT A TOURNAMENT AT THE GRAND IN MISSISSIPPI THAT THE CONSTANT ATTACKS TOWARDS HIM OR UNFOUNDED AND SEEMS TO BE WITH MALICE

For someone who doesn’t post much – that one hit the nail on the head.

Flame wars – well I’ll take responsibility for the latest barrage over at LVA because – well I was tired of what I perceived as half truths and posters intentionally misinterpreting other people.

In the 18 months since I’ve posted here I’ve been a serious student of BJT at times, a seeker or information, a disseminator of anything that I’ve stumbled across and at many times posting off the cuff remarks.

I’ve tried to be humorous at times and serious at others. I REALLY try to think outside the box and the conventional tried and true in the hopes that it will pry open an avenue for something new.

My recent attacks, yes they were attacks, were designed to show certain people the difference between constructive criticism and just plain old in your face insults and complaints.

I’ve come to the realization that there are certain people who just don’t like criticism – PERIOD. As for me personally I LOVE criticism – at least critical analysis designed to point out flaws and areas of improvement; after all no one is perfect – least of all me.

When I’m wrong I don’t have any problem admitting it. I do have an uncanny knack of wanting to get in the last word and I keep praying for the mega dose of patience – NOW! But above all I feel the best when I have something that I can laugh/chuckle about.

Ted, I understand your post but I don’t feel there is any need for the statement that you suggested. Anyone who really is interested will do a Google search and wind up here eventually – after all this IS the best tournament blackjack site on the web after all isn’t it?

Once again thanks to Ken Smith for providing this site and keeping it an “protected” environment where players can come to share ideas, knowledge and events.

Yes this was in reply to someone attacking the site saying no one actually looked on the LVA site so was just a bit of info given in reply

Now Ted this is you using Fuzzy Maths because in true politician style you have gone to one site and totaled the number of posts in one section and then come back to this site and counted the number of posts in every section, The section on LVA you counted is the UBT section, A fair comparison on this site would be the UBT section now have i grasped the definition of fuzzy Maths?

The actual post itself could only be seen as an attack as nobody can actually see any way of valuing that sea at the $10k you stated, I have received a ton of PM's over at LVA on this and nobody could see your thinking on this.

In short yes, many of the posts on events regarding UBT posted here came from Joe’s post on lva to give some examples,

Launch of Rampart, all clububt changes and updates, UBT Schedule, Dice tournament, Hilton screws players, Club Prizes change,

Yes Ted you can share opinions and criticize no problem but that is very different to the insulting attacks you carried out on me over at LVA, You attacked Joe on every single topic that has nothing to do with him???

Yes this is a great site so would LVA be, We all aspect posts from Fred which would argue that black is white ( usually with a paintshop pic attached to prove it), That's Fred we expect it and we love him for it (most the time)

But with everyone trying to bring the whole BJ community together in the last couple of weeks, this includes Rick posting nice things about Joe and UBT , Joe Helping and promoting TBJPA events, Ken making clear his support for all formats, And posts by myself and other asking for unity, Even an apology that i misunderstood your Fuzzy post then why do you insist on further provoking posts.

If your not wanting Myself and anyone else who has anything to do with UBT playing at any UBT Clububt events i can see where you coming from, You Figure with just You and Fred left You have a 50% chance of winning the event

You don't even know me, yet you threw me a lifeline that, at first, I didn't understand, and then I couldn't believe. That was so awesome of you!!! After advancing to the finals, I told my girlfriend what you did. She couldn't believe it either.

I don't know if you watched the final table, but I did get 2nd place and $276. So...when I see you in Vegas, San Diego, England, or on a cruise ship...dinner and drinks are on me! And if the tables are turned and we find ourselves in a similar situation, but with you needing the lifeline, you can count on me!

It's been great seeing you at the bet21 tables. You've got a great sense of humor, and I always enjoy playing with you. Too bad, that at times, one of us can't advance or win the tournament.
