Does anyone know the date of the April Meskwaki tournament? As excited as I am to see an extra Kewadin tournament the week-end of April 24th, I'm concerned that Meskwaki will schedule theirs the same week-end. If this turns out to be true, several of us should call them to encourage a date change. They are already hurting for players in this tournament, I would hazard a guess that a conflict with a Kewadin tournament would cost them a dozen players at a minimum.
The preliminary dates they gave us when there in October are the weekend before (17th thru 19th?) so if they stick with that, we are okay. Billy C
Double Down Denny just let me know that he got bad news when he called today. Apparently Meskwaki isn't holding the spring tournament. La Familia will be sad with no Rubes. That is a crying shame.
Nah, I only final tabled there once (3rd or 4th place, something like that) and haven't been to Iowa in at least three years. BillyC is the one who has been beatin' 'em up good!
You guys are funny. We all know too well what usually happens after the first tourney is cancelled (at any casino). There are no more. I'd REALLY hate to see it happen at Meskwaki. Sure, I've had some success there, but a bigger reason for me is that it's, by far, the closest tourney venue for me. Added to that, their tourney staff always has made it an enjoyable event to play in.
Well, as far as Meskwaki, they've done this before yet resurrected BJT's later on. We can hope that'll be the case this time, too.
B.C. The three times we played Mesk., we really enjoyed the tournaments. Casino employees and the people of the area were very cordial and helpful. Sure hope that this is not a telltale sign of things to come for that tournament. Was even thinking of making the trip for this tourney. Will not have to now.
