    Is this for real???

When I click on the URL my browser opens a separate "tab". That tab is the "compose" window of my e-mail. Is this some trick to get e-mail addresses? If not, how about posting the details without jumping through hoops?

Poshplayers, you might consider actually posting here what is in that attachment. Most of us like to see more complete tournament details here on this site, plus many folks, including myself, really aren't crazy about opening email attachments from an unknown person/stranger (which you've got to admit that you are to us). Just a suggestion......

    please post details here

I agree with Leftnut. Please re-enter, if necessary, the information critical to learning about this tournament on this site - if you can't make the attachment work. There was nothing on the Palms web site about this. We're interested - but are cautious too.

    Palms million dollar tournament

I had the attachment sent to me. It appears to be an accumulation tournament of 3 rounds. If you win all three rounds, you win 1,000,000. If you are in the top 2 of all 3, you win 300,000. If you are in the top 5 of all 3, you win 200,000.
    Prizes are 1st 75,000
    2nd 10,000
    3rd-5th 5,000 each
Payable in promo chips based on 200 entries.
You have to call to verify eligibility. I didn't bother calling, but I suspect a pretty healthy theo required.

    Big players only!

Sounds like this is just for their HIGH ROLLERS and any new ones they may sucker in by dangling this carrot in front of them!

For qualified players why not take a chance, but for any new players it sounds pretty crappy unless the promo chips are the good type where you play them until you lose. If they are the bet one and gone that reduces the prizes by half, so instead of 75,000 for first the value
    of 1st would be $37,500.

A nice prize, but probally not for the theo needed to qualify for this event, but who knows maybe they will bend to get enough players for this event.

That format makes me think of a recent thread here regarding potential collusion in BJT's.
The possibilities in such a format as this - with those large bonuses - are staggering.

I don't see how you could collude in these tournaments. I've played in this exact tournament (with 3x the guaranteed money) at Mandalay Bay a few times. First of all, I hate this tournament because there is basically no skill involved whatsoever. It's just a luck fest of playing risk-preferring blackjack and betting maximum every time. They just like to advertise the $1m/$2m whatever money that nobody ever wins. MB recently had a $3m one. But at least they gave out about $300k in guaranteed -- $150k to first place. But at MB they are usually about 150-200 people. You can't conspire with all those people. And you'd need to conspire with several to make it work, at least 2-3 per round. But mostly importantly they'd need to pass you chips and that's pretty much impossible given the way the tournament is run.

    theo?

    What's a theo?

Theo is short for "theoretical loss". For your amount of play at your betting level, this is the amount the casino expects you to lose for that play. Most casinos use your 'theo' to decide how valuable a customer you are, and therefore which events to invite you to.
