Which qualifying tournament are you referring to? At which Harrah's owned casino?

    Ken Smith,

You asked about the Millionaire Maker on the Calendar posting of the final event at Caesars Palace LV in Aug., 2007.

    1) Harrah's is very poor on providing detailed info about this but from my experience, virtually all seats are awarded through satellites held at other Harrah's owned properties with one or two possibly held at Caesars LV. Some of these satellites are open events and some are by invitation only. Each satellite has it's own tournament rules for awarding seats. Also the number of seats awarded by each casino varies.

    2) I do not believe a buy-it to the final event is possible. Maybe for a very high roller they would make an exception and if they did, that person would probably be comped in.

  4. I played in it last August. The national Millionaire Maker tourny was elimination format. If my memory serves, it was first round, quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals. I've got the rules at home. I'll try to remember to bring them and share the details. As stated, the individual properties structured their qualifiers however they wanted.

I talked to a lady in VIP check-in and she dug up what seems to be the rules for this tourney. She read them off rather quickly, but this is what I got from it:

    - 2 qualifying rounds of accumilation.
    - 25 hands
    - $5000 BR with $5 to $2500 bet range.
    - First place is $50k, second is $15k, and 7th is $2000. 8th through 25th get $500. I did not get all of the prizes to see what the value is.
    - Top 5 get an entry into the million dallar tourney at Caesers.
    - I am not sure whether there is a final round with the top 7 or not, and whether it would be elimination or accumilation.

The tourney is open, according to the lady host that got my rooms, but does NOT include rooms unless they specify it in the invite. I did NOT talk with Roy McGee.

Anyway, I hope this helps. but as you may know, the Grand Tunica is famous for changing things 'on the fly', so I wouldn't be surprised if everything I said is changed. However, the Grand has historically been very fair.

  6. As usual, my memory was a little faulty. Here are the details of last year's national Millionaire Maker TournamentThere was a second round between the first round and the quarterfinals. Each round consisted of 18 hands. Top two advance from first, second, quarterfinal and semifinal rounds. Final round has 6 players. 20K in chips to begin each round. Minimum bet was $100, Max was 5K.

Again, the individual properties could structure their own tournament however they wanted.
