Take charge of your life, so there is no longer a need to ask permission of others. When you ask permission, you're giving someone "veto" power over your life. Only you are responsible for your life. Decisions It is great to tell people that they have the power to decide their own futures (as well as the actions that influence those futures). It might be useful to point out that the average person is severely dysfunctional when it comes to making decisions; they are usually buffeted about by various logical inconsistencies, misconceptions, and personal biases accepted as "reasonable." I suggest that before making life-altering decisions (or even mildly important decisions, all of which add up to be life-altering), it might be useful to spend a couple of hours with a great book called, Decision Traps: The Ten Barriers to Brilliant Decision-Making and How to Overcome Them, by Russo and Schoemaker.
