    Well, what do ya'll think?

If the players want them on the cruise I'll offer them at $10 per tournament, good for the every round of the tournament (except re-buys, you'll need to buy a new one).

Half will go back as bonuses for the players and half split between the dealers.

Let me know if you want them or not?

    We could try it.

We could try it in the first tournament and see how everyone likes it. If we do it we'll have to deal DD cards face down to add the strategy element Charlie used in the WSOB.

    No Mulligans!

or any other nonsense. Keep it traditional, there is enough variance already.

I agree if you are going to hold a blackjack tournament hold a blackjack tournament . The Hilton just created a Mulligan as another way to make more money off of tournament players lets not follow in their greedy footsteps.

A skillfully played tournament will contain no free aces or a chance to change your hand.

If we ever want to be taken seriously we need to stay away from these carnival rules .

Good bets and wise hand playing choices should be all thats needed to make it a good tournament.

After all most or all the players going on the cruise have some sort of tournament experience and know this is not what will make it a better tournament .

    No Problem

I just offered them for the players and as posted, I wouldn't be making any money off of them. All money would go for players bonuses and the dealers.

As I always say, my events are for the players and I try to give ya'll the best possible tournaments.

I am also willing to try new things, but only if the players are interested in trying them.

*Note: This years Sit & Go events will only be played during the day and as soon as an empty table(s) from the main tournaments becomes open.

These Sit & Go events entry fees are up to the players, last year we played anywhere from $5 to $100 entries.
You can play from 2 to 7 players and the players vote on what the payouts will be. All I ask is that you take care of the dealers on not only these events, but all the tournament on board the ship.

Tx, you posted that these tourney's are designed to be fun and social, not stringent. So if people are cool with mulligan's and free A's, go for it. It's a vacation.

    No profit on the mulligans...

It was suggested that by offering the mulligans that I would be saving money by not having to pay the dealers as much, WRONG!

I pay for the dealers cruise and taxes only, they are dealing for tips only, they have no guarantee's how much they may earn on these tournaments.

If we did offer the mulligans, as I posted above 1/2 would go to the players bonuses I offer in each tournament and the other half split among the dealers.

I do however offer a $5 option before each round (total $30) for an extra $100 in "No Cash Value" chip where I do re-coup $15 for expense and the other $15 goes into the dealers pool. And I have the $80 tournament fee, players only (one time fee) and that is the only money I receive other then any casino or Sit & Go winnings I may receive.

One hundred percent (100%) of all entries and re-buys are returned as prize money and or bonuses. If anyone has any other questions please just ask.

Hmmm. So if some of the Mulligan $ goes to the dealers, why is Joep so against this?

You want to know why I'm against it ?

Yes I'm scheduled to be a dealer on the cruise and any monies collected will go to back to the dealers and players .

But I'm against anything that takes away from the skill of tournament play even if its takes money out of my pocket.

We need to promote tournament play at this time to players who know blackjack but have never played in tournaments. These are the players that once they see our game on a nation level ( CBS ) will want to play.

If we now throw all these different gimmicks at them they may just say this is not real blackjack and move on and never return . We need these new players if we ever want tournament play to be on a equal level with poker and the TV coverage that is gets .

When did you ever see at a hold em poker tournament the player having the option to chance his hand or be giving a free ace.

If you insist upon having these option you are leading this game down the wrong path in my opinion

I hope this explains why I'm against it

    Mr Joep-
I was just questioning, not agreeing or disagreeing. You and Tx can battle out this one. But I will say you're very passionate about your convictions.
