Does anyone know who won the finale at Mystic Lake last night? I assume it wasn't the assassin since him or his roommate would probably have posted crowing:laugh: about it already.

    Not promising

I saw THE ASSASSINS BROTHER logged in just a few minutes ago. Since he did not post I have to assume THE ASSASSIN did not succeed. If he succeeded or not, I would be interested in what happened in the final playoff rounds. Anyone with information, including THE ASSASSINS BROTHER, please post.

    I was there

You are right, the assassin did not make it. I watched the last hand of his semi-final match after I busted out of mine. I don't remember the details, but he still had a chance on the final hand. He had to DD on something like a hard 18 to have a chance. So he took the shot and busted. He seemed gracious in defeat as he congratulated the winner.

I don't remember the guys name who won the final table. I just remember that he coasted through the final 5 hands. He had a less than 2 max bet lead over one other player and less than a 3 max bet lead over a couple of others with 5 hands to go. No one went after him. Final hand was something like this:

BR2 12,500 bet max or close to it 5000
    BR1 20,500 bet 500

Dealer had an 8 or 9
    BR2 had a hard 16
    BR1 don't remember

BR2 surrendered to lock up 2nd place and $5000 and give the win to BR1.

  4. We are driving 13 hour to Oklahoma!

The Assassin an I are driving 13 hours tonight to Durant Oklahoma. Yeah... that's right 872 miles away is another chance to get into the WSOBJ. That is how serious and determined Paul is to get back to the tourney. It should be an interesting trip town to the wild wild south. I have never been to Oklahoma but I can say this much atleast it will be warmer then 10 frickin degrees in the tundra of Minnesota lol. If either of us does win a final table we would have to drive back the following week just to get to the finals. What can I say were a couple of 24 and 25 year old guys that live life to the fullest. I'll keep you guys posted!

    better luck...

...next time! Wish you success, I'd love to see one or both of you at the table with Hollywood at the WSoBJ. He says he could beat both of you with a knitting needle inserted in one ear and halfway into his mensa-sized brain. Just kidding! :joker:

Addition: Travelling 872 miles in 13 hours means an average speed of just under 70 mph. I thought the speed limit in the US was 55 mph. Regardless, with an average speed of 70 mph you will be spending some time in the 80-90 mph zone to compensate for travelling at 30mph or slower in the built up areas, towns and cities. Tut tut!!! Guess that new truck of Paul's has got some grunt.

Any challenge would have to be head to head or at another site besides ub or bet21. The ghost of nepotism should be avoided by Paul. JMO.

  10. Paul has a won a spot at the finals!

after winning a spot at the finals for this weekend we drove straight thru!!! the night! to get back by 11am on Sunday. It was a crazy interesting weekend down in Oklahoma. I swear i have never seen such a mickey mouse operation as I saw down there. I wont even get into details but let me just say it was far from what i expected it to be. The people were very nice and made us feel welcome. Man..... it's gonna be a long ride back to Durant on Friday!

He was first out at my first round table...I believe 5 hands....maybe six....

That was the table where I went out on the next to last hand....leaving two players....a man and woman....where on the final hand they discussed their BR's with each other, then the lady bet, and the guy bet min. with no chance to win...no matter what the outcome.....so as I watched, I asked what her bet was, with a response from her of..." why do you care?"
At this point the dealer chimed in with a similar response....so I pointed out that they were discussing their bankrolls with each other before the bets were placed, and the man made a bet which would guarantee his demise...no matter the outcome of the hand, so I concluded they were in cahoots, and colluded the outcome in advance....and should both be removed from the event....you can imagine how far that went!!!!!

I would have loved to see this confrontation. But I can conjure up a pretty good picture in my mind's eye of how it went.

Anyway swog, can you give us a more accurate timing of when you asked the amount of the lady's bet? Because of your chip counting abilities, I'm a little surprised you even had to ask.

I was already out on the next to last hand....where I would normally bolt from the table, cussing under my breath.....but stayed to explain to the dealer why she needed to ask for insurance in order, starting with the button, a point I made several hands earlier in the round.
I was pissed that I busted out, but when the previous situation transpired, I became a bit more agitated...... I knew what BR she had, and what she bet, but I wanted the dealer and floorman to know what had taken place....I still knew how the final results would be handled, but I wanted to prove my point, and VENT my frustration at the same time....mind you, all done in a calm and low tone behavior.....or at least as close to low tone as I could get....because when I do get upset....I will speak very loudly, with very bad language thrown in......but it takes quite a bit to get me to that point....and this wasn't the case.....I just wanted to state my case.....plus the dealer was very stand-off-ish when I originally explained the order for asking for insurance on her ace.....They did nothing, which is what I expected, but the players were violating the rules in a major way.
