I am doing some research right now and was wondering what you guys thought were the top 5 or 6 casinos in the world for blackjack tournaments.

I have been researching the tournament schedule and I have to say that LV Hilton and Barona Valley both seem to be pretty strong as well as Casino Charlevoix to the North.

I am looking at going to some of these tournaments, I just want to get some more information on who has the best format -- I dont really care too much for the welcome receptions and free souvenier gifts, just am interested in the actual tournament itself.

Thanks in advance for all of your help.

    Tournies: Allnoing 1:

There's a lot to consider to determine the "BEST" tournaments.

Right now, wherever there is a UBT type elemination tourney provides a great payout for the investment and a complete test of your abilities.

Many of the Vegas Mega Resorts have their "invitational" deals, where you have to earn your way in with side play. but they all vary in format, rules and payout.

You may be right about Barona. I just not that familiar with them. Other than the ads and Mr. Max's endorsement and he's kind of like microsoft, you know, always trust content.

For skill evaluation and substantial return on investment I like the Imperial Palace's $20,000 first prize with first round double deck, dealt to the bottom, two advance and subsequent and last round single deck dealt to the bottom.
Standard all around tournament play rules, except for no surrender.

But, I guess that'll be gone after this month as they are gobbled up by their predatory neighbor Harrahas. Like to see someone else pick up that format in an open tourney.

Another, I like, but haven't got to and don't know if it does or will continue is the Golden Nugget's "LIVE" money tourney. Rookie won the last one, ask him the specifics...But, the concept of putting up your own money each round has significant implications, unmatched until the UBT elimination format and subsequent secret bets and actions. Starbust used to run similar format with 100,000 first. But whatever you won in each round was yours too. Just had to make sure, you didn't party away your starting stake for the next round.
Joe, Ken, Hollywood can give you all kinds of stories on that type of tourney and particularly the ones at the Starbust.

    So that's my nickel.

    IP Blackjack Tournaments

As I beleive I posted a while back, latest word is that the IP will remain open and pretty much unchanged through all of 2007. They have two of the same formated tournaments of which you speak scheduled for 2007 at the usual times they have been holding them - I entered them on the events calendar. Are you in town for this one? I am here, but will be playing at the Paris tournament - I do plan to make cameo appearances at the IP feeding frenzies though! Will be wearing the same olive green hat from the Buena Vista Bar in SFO and holding my Maker's Mark!

IP Tourney to Chips and allnoing1

Good to see, hear there'll be more IP's. As, I said, I believe one can evaluate their overall competitiveness in their format. Sorry all involved, but I never saw the events calander go beyond two months into the future.

    So...allnoing plan for an IP.

Chips, you never know where your next free MM may come from.

Any of the bigger Canaidian tournamnets listed in the events area are worthwhile ....fairly open buyin ,fair chance playing and winning...ive played the masters at Niagara Fallsview a couple of times...good fair game...I have heard that Quebec offers a similar good game...

No taxes to caniadian citizens on winnings.

    Calender dates

After you click on the EVENTS CALENDER, take a look at the left side of the page. That page gives you all the filtering options including the date range desired.

Now, if more people would post to the calender we could have something that doesn't exist anywhere else. Remember, one post once in a while is all it takes. :)
