All the responses to Jean Scott's online BJ Tourney play were somewhat helpful....but, I'm the REAL rookie and need more guidance from the pros. I've played in weekly tournaments and a few big dollar tournament in Mississippi, so have basic knowledge only. Keep looking for one of you to write "BlackJackTournament Play for Dummies" but can't find it on the book store shelves as yet.

I'm considering playing in Ken's G-P Tounament tomorrow. Have set up an account yesterday, just in case I get up the nerve to go forth and play with the "Big Dogs". I need basic information...like what kind of format will be used...elimination/accumulation/other? What buttons do I punch?? Do I have to hang around for 3.5 hours? HELP, please.

    Thanks

    Practice

I would practice on some of the sit and go tournaments today and get use to the game.

The best way to learn is play the game. Here is a quick run down.

Click on a $15/1 sit and go, when your spot starts flashing it is your bet (you have 30 seconds). Next left click the chip(s) you want to bet and then left click them (one at a time) into your playing spot. To take off chips just right click.

After you bet is down click the "Done" button below the "Bet" button.

Once cards come out you wait for your turn and left click for hit, stand, surrender, DD, insurance (whichever you want).

After the hands are over click the lighted button to remove the cards (I think it is Done, Next, Over, something like that? It will be the only lighted button on the bottom right side.

You only play 15 hands, the sit and go events will take just short of 30 minutes. For Ken's Sunday event it should be around 3 1/2 - 4 hours.

Hope this helps you. I hope you remembered to use the code word "Cruise" for your extra chip bonus at Global-Player.

Excellent advice Tx. It is definitely worth a $16 fee to practice at a Sit & Go before the $50 event tomorrow. It takes some table experience to learn how the buttons work, etc.

As for format, it will be elimination style, probably with 2 advancing from each table until the semifinals. The final determination of format won't happen until the event is ready to begin, since it depends on how many players we get.

If you make the final table, you'll probably be there around 3.5 hrs.

Counselorlee.....what Tx. and Ken said sounded a little difficult to grasp, but it is not too hard to get started.....Ken mentioned a $16 fee...what he meant was ...put up $16 to play.....first place wins $50...second wins $25 ...so it is not a fee in that regard....give it a try ...good luck

    Learning the ropes

Counselorlee, the advice from Tx and Ken to play in the Sit & Go tournaments is a great way to get your feet wet in the tournament arena.

With regard to your questions of which buttons to press, etc, I would suggest you check out the help screens for blackjack, in particular the mechanics of placing a bet and playing the hand. Here's a link to it: Placing Your Bet

Then you can play for free to learn the playing routine. Just click on “Guest Games” from the first screen after starting the casino software. Then choose “Blackjack: Atlantic City 6 Decks…” to enter a table. Be sure to try out all the decision buttons.

    BJT Tourney Format

Ken...How many hands for each round? I note the $50 Sit & Go has 20 hands, which I would prefer as it is closer to 'live' tournaments...every land-based mini tourney I have played has had 20 or 25 hands.

The format will be like the Wednesday tournaments, with 15 hands per round.
