Hi, I have registered for the blackjack tournament on Friday night at harrah's. This is my first BJT. I love Blackjack and have been going down to A.C frequently, the past few months. This will be my first tournament hopefully of many. Are you able to give a general idea of the premise and how it works. What is the buy-in and how do they judge who goes on to the next rounds.

    Thanks

  3. The Usual Harrah's Format

I don't know the specifics this time around, but usually Harrah's AC gets on
the order of 300-500 players for this kind of tournament. The first round is usually an accumulation round, where you are playing against the entire field, trying to get one of the top 49 scores. Those 49 players (1st round scores do not carry over) then play a semi-final round where you need to win your table to advance to the finals. Normally, there is no maximum bet in the first round. Usually, you need to make the finals to win some money.

That said, some of the other Harrah's properties in AC have been playing around some with this basic format. Some times you run into limitations on the maximum bet (e.g. no max on hands 5, 10, and 15, but $5k max otherwise starting with $20k in chips). In the last Park Place bj tournament only the top 42 advanced to the semi-finals with 7 spots being filled by wild cards. I've also seen some tournaments in which there was some prize money doled out to the semi-finalists.

Oh yeah, this tournament is a freebie with no buy-in or entry fee required.
