Hey Everybody! Bear here... wishing all a Happy and Prosperous 2007 on behalf of BlackJack21.com!! Also, I wanted to inform every one of a few things going on at BlackJack 21. First and foremost, 2007 marks the beginning of a bright new tournament schedule at BlackJack 21. You can find the new tournament calendar at BlackJack 21, but for now you should know we'll be hosting multi-level tournaments everyday and night starting this coming Monday, 1/22. All tournaments will have guaranteed pots and minimum player requirements, but basically you’ll find pots ranging from $300 to $1200— you can compete for over $6500 each week in our MultiTournaments. You can find a MultiTournament every nite at 9:30pm EST and during the day at either 3:00 EST or 4:30 EST, depending on the day. So check out the Blackjack21 Tournament Schedule. You should also recognize a spike in traffic and games found at our site. This is because we have fulfilled our goals of creating an affiliate base which has now launched. This means great news for all the players, and better opportunities for competing for cash & prizes. Essentially, now is a great time to check out BlackJack 21! We've also added new games, including $40 Mano a Mano games and $40 Sit n Go's. Our Mano a Mano games are a great way to compete head to head against some of the best blackjack tournament players in the world. Our Cruise Tournament is still slated to happen, and we know you'll be excited to participate once this boat sets sail. However, our modus operandi has and will always be to take the time to do things right. We feel there is a right time and place for launching it... and right now is not the time. But I promise you soon. So, we appreciate your patience. Well, that’s all for now. If you haven’t visited BlackJack 21 recently, then we welcome you to stop by again. And, if you’ve never visited our humble little abode, we offer a traditional blackjack tournament game with no secret bets or elimination rounds. We also provide free games so you can hone your skills before entering the real money competitions. Thanks for your time everyone. We look forward to seeing you at the BlackJack 21 tables! Cheers, Bear
Hi bear, Sounds good. I hope there will be tournaments some hours earlier so it´s not too late for european players. And there are many european players. I think tournaments at 3 am local time is too late to play. cu
A question about the "guarantee" word. Doesn't it usually mean that the money guaranteed is higher than the entry fees by the minimum players required? Otherwise, what does it mean?
guarantee Definition To accept responsibility for an obligation if the entity with primary responsibility for the obligation does not meet it. http://www.investorwords.com/2264/guarantee.html In this case guaranteed with the condition that a minimal number of players are present. In other words .......don't bet on it! Good luck getting the minimum - seriously
often times the minimum number of players required to trigger the guarantee is less than needed to equal the pot offered - example - at a tournament at Pauma Casino - they added $10,000 to the entry fees - if 54 players signed up (counting rebuys) - since the buy-in and rebuy fees were $100 - this turned a $5400 pot into a $15,400 pot - nice equity - sometimes - though - a casino will state a 'guarantee' that is simply a statement of what the entry fees total up to if they get that number of players - so it is not a real guaranteed pot - just an advertising gimmick - read the fine print always
Bowling tournament promotors have used this trick for decades. GUARANTEED FIRST PRIZE OF $X,XXX and much smaller print saying something like based on XXX entries, thus covering their butts if the tournament doesn't draw as anticipated. The experienced competitor knows to examine all of the rules and details before making a decision to enter.
Same for blackjack tournaments LeftNut, almost every casino that host blackjack tournament, (at least that I've seen) does the same thing. That is guarantees a XXXXXX amount for 1st based on certain number of entries/re-buys. Now they do have the exceptions, where they guarantee 1st place money, but then all the other finalist suffer from low attendance either a winner take all (or that is what it ends up being). They also have the guaranteed INVITE events, but over the last few year even those freebies have have been based on the number of players they get in. This is just normal tournament marketing. The better events at least roll all extra entries and re-buys back into the tournament prize pool.
The problem here is that there is one site saying they guarentee 2,500 for a tournament based on a minimum of X entries that is below the required number for the $2,500 pot. The site that does this offers positive EV BJ21.com is trying to use the same "marketing" technique and is really just a gimmick to get more people interested. It is my opinion that if you claim you have a "guarenteed $1,000" prize pool you either need to bite the bullet and hold it REGARDLESS of the number of entries, or promote it is "guarenteed $1,000 with a minimum of X players". No fine print. When you require 50 players at $20 for a $1,000 tourney that is simple math. There is no guarentee and to market it as such is simply misleading. Why not say there is a $20 MTT at 8 EST?
fkg, you would be surprized how many tournaments don't work like that. The Riviera and Fitzgeralds in Las Vegas use to take big chunks of the prize money out for the house (the Fitz. still does).
Gauranteeeeeeees: Leftnut and Tx are certainly correct. The ones that promote the gaurantee on entries and then adjust accordingly are straight, even taking their advertised vig. Now for some little advertised positives. The Bet 21's/Ultimate tourneys at $50 and $100 with gaurantees have gauranteed the stated amount, even when only the min of 12 have signed on. Simple example the "sites" gauranteed $100 tourneys gaurantee $2,500..Min 12 to play. And some have only had 12. follow me here that's only $1,200 in entry, plus the $9 vig. Yet they still payout the $2,500. Same scenerio for $50. Current problem. Funding the site. Stated options after Netteller bit the dust don't seem to be working.
Questions regarding Blackjack21.com's new tournaments I cannot believe no one has noticed that the "Five Dime Fridays" tournament prize pool is short $50 based on entry fees X participants. Is this a typo or is the site padding their vig? (Ten percent is already steep if you ask me! :flame: ) Also, are the tournaments cancelled if the "required number of participants" don't sign up, or is the prize pool just reduced proportionally? I realize this is the first week for the new tournaments; but so far how many people are showing up? Reno
Interesting that FGK would say the offer is misleading after he posted the schedule that has clearly in caps as such... <THIRTY DIRTY BIRDS - $750 GUARANTEED POT. MINIMUM PLAYERS REQUIRED: (25)> It doesnt take a genius to figure it out! Obviously its a marketing venture to show money could be won. Problem is the Neteller greed mongers finally got knocked out a couple days before the new schedule began. I think bj21's affiliates customers are more worried about getting their money out of their accounts. Obviously the end is near for USA customers for funding of gambling sites. It will come to a time soon that the only way to fund will be cash! Guaranteed pots are a gimmick in themselves. Intersingly at bet21 the 50 + 5 game had some of the best turnouts for a 2500 guarantee pot. I watched many times to try and get in when the , previously, minimum player pool of 25 was hit. Almost every time I watched there was a flood of players near the bell that took the players to almost 50 which made it a cash positve game for bet21. The best thing about a player pool that equals 1/2 of house investment was there werent many players to compete with. That was the best thing about Golden Palace as it just barely made the player mins on a 2x pot. The rounds were few and a more wildcards offered because they couldnt tweak the table numbers much. I think the best thing about a guarantee pot is to get in when the players total will pay in about 50% of house investment. blackjack21 offer isnt that way it needs 100% player invesment but to say it is missleading is missleading itself because there is no fine print its says in caps players mins required.
reno: have talked to the owners about their new format. suggested that it would be diffucult to receive new customers without having value added tourneys. if you noticed that their big tourney yesterday ($750) which should have been a $30 buy-in, was listed as their regular $20 buy in ( plus the 10% vig). i am sure that this was a mistake on their end. yet there was only 7 players signed up for the tourney, which of course cancelled. it would have been interesting it there would have been enough players to have the tourney. i would like to see this site make it. for, we need as many formats possible, to be able to play. i just do not believe that they can continue to receive new customers without at least putting on a couple of value added tourneys. or, keep their regular customers playing daily. todays' five and dime (should be a 50 + 5 b/i), $1200 guaranteed is listed as a $20 +2 b/i. 25 needed to start the tourney. will be checking if it fills. good ev. WE SHOW MORE CONCERN IN PASSING ON OUR WEALTH, THAN OUR FREEDOM
I made a mistake.... Hey gang! Bear here.... My apologies for any confusion. I personally made the tournament calendar, and made a mistake with the prize pools.... Mrs. Porterfield, the all-time most strict math teacher in the whole wide world, would be disappointed with me. Reno, thanks for the heads up here. And No, we aren't trying to pad our vig and nor will we ever. ALL amounts over and above our 10% Vig will go to the players. Changes have been made to the calendar, as well as the MultiTournament Lobby. Turns out I made more than one mistake developing the calendar and tournaments, so thanks for keeping me in check. We are all human right. Marichal, thanks for your continued support and suggestions. And again, best of luck on the road. Barneystone, you’ve also been a great ambassador of the traditional blackjack tournament game found at BlackJack 21, and we thank you. If I may, I’d like to clarify a couple things…. The purpose of the Multi-Tournament calendar is to provide you the players another opportunity to compete and to win worthwhile prizes at yet another popular venue. We developed the calendar with very clearly stated guidelines with no intent to mislead, and to suggest otherwise is false. We ask the players: What is the most attractive thing about participating in a blackjack tournament, or any other tournament for that matter? Easy right.... The Prize Pool. We all ask "What's in it for Me?" C'mon we all do it. Well, we tried to create new scenarios for players to participate in multiple tournaments at our site with various prize pools and various entry fees as a means for creating variety and seeing what works for you all. In our Multi-Tournament calendar you will see there are A VARIETY OF PRIZE POOLS BASED ON THE ENTRY FEES OF THE MINIMUM REQUIRED PLAYERS. (I’m using CAPS here as to distinguish it from a fine print.) If there are more than the minimum amount of players, then you can expect a larger prize pool and winnings… It’s that simple. $1250 is an attractive purse for many and this is what we market to…. So, as a player, you can decide if you want to compete for $1250 or $300 based on the entry fees of you and other players. Again, all entry fees above and beyond minimum are added to the prize pool and not collected by the house. We are very transparent about everything we do. If you have any questions then call us or email us anytime to speak with a live person. We know we are a small shop... and frankly, this is better for you the players. We aren't the bright lights, big city Vegas type. We are a small comfortable town, Laughlin if you will, where you can find a good game and good people that give a personal touch with all the players. That being said, we invite you to come out and play. We invite you to ask others so you the players can increase the prize pools. We invite you to enjoy the games at BlackJack 21. Thanks for listening and understanding! Cheers, Bear
Thanks Bear for clearing up the confussion on the buy-ins, vig and presenting your kind words. I appreicate them very much. I thought it was a oversight on Blackjack21 pretaining to the buy-ins on your new format. Am hoping that your site can grow, for the benefit of us all. As they tell us to form a single line, to receive their stamp on our forehead. It will be easier to clean up our blood of bondage.
Bear ""Barneystone, you’ve also been a great ambassador of the traditional blackjack tournament game found at BlackJack 21"" When do I get one of these ambassador pages???? http://www.ultimatebet.com/team-ub/krazykanuck.html Just kidding  We need some no player limit multi table tournament games like we had before. Maybe you could run some at 5pm pst. With the recent Neteller fiasco money isnt free for your market and it stinks it happened right when you put up a good schedule. Maybe after Super Bowl some money will free up!
ambassador barney, that does have a good ring to it. also, your idea is a good one. we are all terminal cases, according to garp
