I am iterested in participating in a blackjack tournament, this one LVH 100K Suited Blackjack Tournament which according to this site takes place on march 15th at the las vegas hilton. DO I contact the hotel direclty? I never been in a tournament so I need to know what to expect if I do go so someone please enlighten me? also many listing say entry fee dependant on historical casino play. What does that mean? Thanks
Hilton Here is the Hilton's webpage on the tournament. You need to have a suited blackjack with at least $25 bet to get an invitation. http://www.lvhilton.com/calendar/128-100k-table-tournament-series?category=7 Historical play for comp puposes will vary by the casino. They don't advertize what they do internally to determine what kind of comps you will get for your play in their casinos.
Tournaments As for playing in tournaments, Ken has a lot of info here http://www.blackjackinfo.com/ Click on the Blackjack tournament section.
Hilton By the way, I have never played in one of these Hilton tournaments. I just assumed that the bet had to be $25 or higher. Could be that it has to be exactly $25. You should contact the casino and get the official rules. I have no idea when they cutoff their suited blackjack offer for the tournament dates. Just in general you should get a winning suited blackjack about every 85 hands. I would imagine over a 2 hour span you should have about a 50% shot of a suited BJ, but it could happen in one hand or many hours.
Hilton The $25 is what is on their web page. Also I said above that 2 hours should give you about a 50% chance of a suited BJ. I was thinking of the number of hands per hour at an Indian casino that charges and ante to play (you play 40-50 hands and hour). The Vegas casinos will play more hands than this. I would imagine the mean for a suited BJ is around 1 1/4 hours for the Hilton.
There may be other changes coming at this venue as "Hilton" is pulling out. As of January 3rd the LVH stands for Las Vegas Hotel. Billy C
I certainly hope they honor the entries (in March) for those of us who got it with a $10 bet, back at the last regular BJT in October.
100K LVH BJ Tournament LeftNut, I'm sure if you have the contractual certificate stating you qualified for the March 100K BJ tournament it will be honored, although the LVH may be under receivership by March so be sure your airfare when purchased is refundable.
New link to LVH BJT's The link posted by hopinglarry in post #2, above, went bye-bye along with the Hilton name. Here is the new link: http://www.thelvh.com/calendar/46-100-000-blackjack-tournament?category=7
I'll be calling in tomorrow to see what i can do to get in...rather not come in 2 days before to earn an entry. If I need to pop in for a 24 hour playing session, I may do that if I can find flights. This is the year I want to get back into the tourney circuit...just need to figure out the funding from San Josey vs. San Diego.... ~Sandy
