Ok, I've gotta ask. In all the tournaments I've played the deal is made from the point of the button forward, not from the traditional first base postion. However, it appears the WSOB rules call for dealing to start at 1B. Is this just a Mohegan Sun rule or have others seen this practice elsewhere? Confused!
It was unusual, and I don't recall seeing that method used elsewhere. The dealer at Mohegan Sun always dealt the initial two-card hands just like at a regular table. Then subsequent play, and the ensuing hits started at the rotating button. I'll stop short of saying it doesn't matter to the game, because with the angles used by some of these players, it might be a big deal. It didn't affect me in any way.
Canadian tour. In its tournaments, Casino Niagara starts the rotation button at first base on the first hand. However, seats are computer-picked, so the result is the same as a random start. F.Y.I., BJ tournament activity is heating up in Ontario with a second Casino about to announce a new tournament. First place prizes go from $10k to $100k Canadian and the winnings are tax exempt.
