Hey all, love the site. Started seriously playing about a year ago, made enough money to want to join tournaments (did one on a cruise with fake money and won it). I have no idea where to start. I guess I should start off small and work up to bigger ones with better players??? I live in Indiana, so any casino is a long haul from here. Vegas by plane is three hours... Just wanted to introduce myself and hopefully get some advice from you pros...

    Thanks!

    Check out "NEWBIE CORNER"

There was a discussion that I think will answer some of your questions. You can find the thread as follows:
    NEWBIE CORNER
best way to learn tournament bj
I brought the thread up to today's date (3-13-06) so you can find it near the top of the NEWBIE CORNER threads. Good Luck.

    Welcome

Welcome to the site toggaahh. If you want to play a couple of BJ tournaments this month, I suggest the Las Vegas Hilton (March 23-25) and Stardust (March 27th-29th).

Just private message me and I'll try to get you into the Stardust.

    Some Small Tourny's

    Toggaahh,

I would suggest using the serach tool in the event calendar and search for all tourny's in a date range.

We have in the past played a lot of the weekly tourny's at the "locals" casinos but I see they have added some additional ones on strip. These make for some good practice at a low cost and are generally a lot of fun. Most generally require a car to get to though.

Below is a link to the search that gives the tourny's for the 7 days after your 4/21/06 date.

    Have Fun,
    Dan

If you'll notice, the address bar at the top of your browser includes all this stuff when you search the event calendar. You can copy the address and paste it somewhere like here in a message, or you can choose to bookmark a specific search to return to it later.

    Nice usage there, Dan.

The Boulder Station (in L.V.) has a pretty good weekly tournament on Saturdays. You'd be there for the April 22nd tourney. If I recall, it is a $25 buy in (although it may be $40), rebuys are available, and 1st place pays $1700. Most $25 buy in tournaments typically have a $500 1st prize. And quite a few well skilled and regular tournament players from this web site play there. Maybe you'd be able to meet up with some of the people that are helping you with advice during your start up learning curve.

    Alot of Neat Stuff

    Ken,

    Thanks!

Even though I'm a Pharmacist I work with the computer end of it all day. That is, I maintain the pharmacy computer systems here. It's fun trying to figure out all the in's and out's of it. :D

When I was creating the event calendar, I first planned to hide all that stuff that shows in the browser bar. (For the technically inclined, I was going to use HTTP POST instead of GET.) However, when I thought about, I figured the ability to bookmark specific searches might be useful. Looks like I was right.
