The real horrifying part is that when we correspond with our British friends on this site, there is a good chance they are "unclothed" when responding. :vomit:

Now, I found one piece of information in the article that bears some consideration:
Of 59% of online gamblers who play poker online, over a third will play in real life on a regular basis. However, online gamblers seem unlikely to visit ‘real’ casinos to get their kicks with just 4%, though just under half will go to a casino occasionally.

There are those on this site that believe that a large base of online TBJ players will spill over to B&M casinos. Well, this survey seems to indicate that ain't gonna happen.

Kidding aside here for a moment

    Several differences of note:

    1. These were online POKER players and not BJ players. HUGE difference
    2. In the UK they don't have as great access to casino's as we do in US
    3. This was a UK poll and NOT US poll

    Now my rationale:

    1. Poker players - people can play poker with their friends and buddy's all the time. Home games are fun and highly popular. When was the last time you had a home BJ game? You just don't because it is intimidated for people I guess. Secondly poker involves a "read" of your opponent. Bluffing is a big part of poker. Some of those in the survey KNOW that they can's bluff or read so why go into a B & M to be plucked?

    2. UK casinos - (correct me if I'm wrong (highly likely)) require a membership to enter. They are run differently than US venues. Do the UK casino's have poker rooms? I don't know. But if you're asking online poker players about going to a casino to play poker - why bother? Now with BJ it's a different story. BJ is the MOST popular table game in US casino's PERIOD. So if you are playing online and you want "real life" experience a B & M is your only choice.

    3. UK vs US - Well UK people eat blood sausage and blood pudding. Need I say more!

    fgk42,

I have yet to meet a player at a BJ tournament in a B&M casino that started playing BJTs on-line and found it so compelling that he/she wanted to try it live. How many have you come across?

    UK is different

Apart from us all being nude when we are online as you know our casino culture is very, very different. I would expect the figures to be somewhat different for the US.

Including myself - ONE! ME :D

I've been playing BJ for a LONG time and had never heard of BJT's before. I started doing many more trips to the B & M and all the invites began to flow in. My first LIVE event was at the Golden Nugget in April/May of 2006 - AFTER I had played on Global!

It is MY personal belief that people just don't know about TBJ. It is so under the radar it isn't funny! Whenever I go now I spead the word. I wear my TBJ.com polo shirt and my UBT polo shirt as I have had people ask me what that was - it gave me a chance to explain what TBJ is!

Thank you for being honest. Of course you realize that you just help prove my point. :D

I found out about BJTs from watching the TV broadcast of the first MILLION DOLLAR BLACKJACK TOURNAMENT at the LV Hilton.

PS: Also, Thank You Reachy for being honest. :p

    Fear not

I am almost always fully clothed when playing or corresponding on this site. :)

Maybe this survey has revealed a business opportunity; the way to tempt hordes of online gamblers into a bricks-and-mortar casino might be to 'relax' the dress code!

London, we have to watch doing that. Remember this was brought up in the past?

We could never resolve the issue of bears and women BJ players remember?

    Ban the girls

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It’s a well-known fact that Bears are attracted to the scent of women who are menstruating.

Rick Jensen covers nearly every rule for his forthcoming Blackjack Tournament tour but makes no reference to the possibility of “Casino Bear Attacks”.

What are the casino health and safety regulations regarding female tournament players?

The game is hard enough without having to worry about freaking Bears wandering into the casino.

For personal safety reasons, I have decided not to play any of the live tournament games in the states until the Women/Bear issue is sorted out.

    Andy.
