When I was at Rick's BJ Tourney in Laughlin, Steve from the Cherokee Casino in Tulsa advised all of us that they would hold their series of tournaments October 22-28. Since then I have not heard or seen anything about it. Does anyone know anything?????? Very
tinker; received an email, from lana salazar (table games manager) @ the cherokee casino, stating that they would be, looking to hold their bj tourney the 22-27th of oct. she stated to keep looking for info on their website. the email was dated 8/29/7. have not heard anything else, or viewed any updates on their website. my partner received an email around the same time, stating the tourney would be held the 24-28 of oct. would be nice to know if they have decided on dates, or if they are having their tourney.
I've heard... Two sets of dates have been given to me, 23rd - 28th and 24th - 28th for their October events. I have also been told that they intend on holding their big event as a two day tournament. I do know that these events are pending state approval and once they are Cherokee will post the exact dates. Also these events will not be scheduled with their poker tournaments that week, so rooms at the main hotel will be easier to get. I made my reservations about 5 weeks ago.
One of the Best... Blackjack Guys & Gals: Regardless of when the dates are for the upcoming "Tournament Week at the Cherokee", you DON'T wanna miss this if at all possible... For us "Tournament Junkies" to be able to have pretty much non-stop tournament action for close to a whole week, in addition to a "great" time at Bob's house in Tulsa, for the second "Barbecue Bash" (Right Bob?), you'll be in Blackjack Heaven for sure! Hope to win one of these again, as I did for one a few months ago. Great tournaments, run by a great group of people, starting with the main man Eric Woods! Can't wait... Skipper :celebrate
No more Eric... Skipper, Cherokee has moved Eric to another dept. and no longer has him doing anything with the tournaments (from my understanding). I really hated to hear this since Eric really was becoming one of the better Tournament Directors. It is also my understanding that Cherokee currently dosen't have a Tournament Director (which seems to be the problem with not getting the event information out to the players). However Steve, Liz, Rhonda, Tim, and Frances will still all be at the Tulsa events helping run the tournaments.
Thanks... Thanks for the heads-up Rick. I'll give Eric a call and try and find out what's going on... Skipper

Great News... Blackjack Friends: I called and left a message for Liz! One thing I noticed is that the Cherokee is guaranteeing $50,000 in their "Main Event" Tournament in addition to throwing an additional 10% into the Prize Fund for all the other tournaments! I've said it before, and I'll say it again... YOU WANNA BE THERE FOR THESE EVENTS, BECAUSE THESE PEOPLE KNOW HOW TO RUN A "GREAT" TOURNAMENT! See ya'all in Tulsa in October! Skipper :celebrate
Tulsa Who could miss playing with the "real bad boy of blackjack". Jan and I will be there with the rest of the "cool school". Looking forward to seeing you all again. tgun
Great... TGUN: Looking forward to seeing you and Jan again, along with Ken Smith, Tulsa Bob, Rick Jensen, SWOG, Harry Fox and all the rest of the crew... Getting ready to "Talk to 'em" and win one of these as I did during the first go-around! A great week to spend some time with some "quality people"! Can't wait guys and gals... Skipper :celebrate
Rats! Deb and I want so badly to be there!!! $$$ are just way too tight for such an endeavor with travel costs included, it's heartbreaking to miss the festivities that week. We'll be there in spirit, though, and wish everyone the very best of luck.
OK Vegas folk... Southwest is running a "Ding" fare special today from Vegas to Tulsa for $54 to $57 each way. Travel is good on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, so at least the arriving flight for the week in Tulsa should be a possibility at this low fare. Book today before 7:30 PM Pacific time.
C'mon Turkey and double spare! If the homebound fat rock noman can make it, alll five thousand tons, then yous twos can break away from your bowling leagues to git there. Huh. what ya say. Specially since they put the Jack and Jill at the end. Makes for a better single hook up. What you say. OK sun daytime in October is oh so sweet. And the nights are cool and ripe for romance.
Tulsa Blackjack Tournaments I just received the October flyer from the Cherokee casino and I did not see anything in it about the Blackjack Tournaments during the last week of October. The only thing I saw was the Scotty Nguyen Poker Challenge IV from Nov 1 to Nov 20. In September they advertised the Three Card Poker Tournament and it was cancelled, which was disappointing and now it is like Blackjack is getting pushed aside too. I called the Cherokee Casino this evening and they said they didn't have anything down for that week. I'll call Lana Salazar, the Table Games Manager, tomorrow morning and see if they decided to have it in December, hopefully. I have really enjoyed playing with everyone in the last couple of blackjack tournaments as well as the courteous of the staff and dealers at the Cherokee Casino.
As far as I know, these events are still on, and slated for the late October dates mentioned in the calendar.
October Tournaments Everyone, The tournaments are still on! Ken posted the schedule and a room block is set up. Rooms are limited in the main hotel so make your reservations now! The block code is CHER1007_001. Don't forget the Main Event prize pool is a guaranteed $50,000! Bob's already planning the BBQ-just don't forget to let me know so I can cancel any sitngo's that are scheduled that day! Ha-ha! Hope to see everyone here again! Thanks, Liz
