I've seen a few mentions in the press of a gambling measure that passed in the recent election in Oklahoma. It sounds as though the casinos in that state will again be allowed to offer blackjack, but only tournament-style. Sounds great to me! Can anyone in the area fill us in on the details?
Hope they changed! Before you got to play for free, if you had 45 hours of play in about three months. If you played less it didn't matter how much money you lost you couldn't play. That SUCKED because the prize money for the tournaments came from all the losses not just the ones who play the most. That was suppose to be one of the reasons they got shut down I heard. If they offer an entry fee to get in I might take a drive north and play in some (they had some big tournaments). It well give me an excuse to go visit Chipsmccoy anyway.
There's more to it than that I'm not at all up to speed on what's happening in Oklahoma, but here's a brief description of what I believe to be the case: In Oklahoma, house-banked blackjack is not allowed, but they are allowed instead to charge an add-fee for tournament blackjack. Thus, to play blackjack at all in Oklahoma, you sit down and play a ten-hand sit-and-go tournament against the other players at the table. There is no other style of blackjack in the entire casino. Now, for most players, I'm sure that's a real pain. For us, it sounds like paradise! If this is an accurate assessment, I might make a roadtrip up there. Any info appreciated. Here's a link to post at another forum that mentions the idea: http://www.gamemasteronline.com/cgi-local/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=000198
