    Yesterday, Comanche Red River started a wonderful promotion. No commission on blackjack for the entire month of July. I felt like I was winning the lottery. It was real blackjack. Too great for words.

    Down the street, at Kiowa Casino, business was considerably slow.

    Right now, it appears that Comanche Red River is the only casino in all of Oklahoma to do no commission blackjack.

    Kiowa is going to do a Friday Blackjack tournament. All it says on their website is $500 guaranteed. No other details.

    More details of the Comanche Red River No 50 cent per hand promotion are available at:

    The limited info on the Kiowa tournament are at:

    The Kiowa and Red River casinos are in quite a competition, since the Kiowa's opening. I think the Red River lost 9 of its dealers to Kiowa. Specials and prize money giveaways are good for the customers right now. The July 8 Comanche Nation BJ quarterly has 240 entries and $205000 prize pool. The Red River prize pool still unknown sign up still going till July 18.

    You have the quarterly is July 8th, but the then post that you can sign up until July 18th? Is this two different events or wrong dates?

    Comanche Nation sign up ended June 30. Tournament July 8. Red River sign up July 1-18. Tournament July 22-23. Two different casinos same tribe. Don't know what the Kiowa casino is going to do with the table winnings. Tournaments, drawings, or some of both.

    Thanks

    Thanks BJmailman, I thought it was something like that.
    I might come up there this Friday to get my hour in and play at the Kiowa tournament Friday night.

    This Friday will be their first BJ tournament and here is the information I was able to get on the event.

    Entry is $10 for entry or you may pay $20 for entry and the buffet (normally $15).

    Players start with $5,000 in chips, with min. $100 Max. $2,500 bets.

    This is a WSOB/UBT style format with multi-eliminations at each table during the round.

    21 hands per table with 2 player eliminated from each table. Yes you heard me right, not two players adavnce, it is two players are eliminated (1st after hand 14 and 2nd after hand 21), this is different, all remaining players advance to the next round.

    Basic rules are:

    Dealer stands all 17's
    Surrender (in the tournament only)
    Blackjack's pay
    DD after splits allowed
    Insurance must be put up
    Count down before hand 14 & 21

    Registration starts at 3:00 pm and tournament starts at 4:00 pm

    At this time there are no re-buys or re-entries avilable.

    Guaranteed $1,000 in prize money.

    1st = $500
    2nd = $250
    3rd = $150
    4th = $100
    5th = $ 50

    If you want "locals" only tournaments, just have the players make three trips for one tournament. Go and play for an hour to qualify, go back to sign up, then back to play the event.

    Remember the quarterly Rick, Swog, and Ladyg qualified to play in ? Rick called to sign up and I drove 25 minutes to make sure he was signed up and signed Swog up. Now for this month without the .50 cent ante whats to complain about.

    For what it's worth.... Osage Million Dollar Elm casinos are offering no-ante on Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays. And Buffalo Run casino offers no-ante on Sunday thru Friday from midnight to 4pm.

    I think I will try the Friday Kiowa tournament. I have never played in a UBT style tournament. Sounds interesting.

    Kiowa tournament

    I made it up there Friday for their first event. It had a few bugs in it, however they were very nice and more then willing to listen to helpful advice on how to improve on this event.

    I am currently working on a new format for them with hopefully a new higher weekly guaranteed prize pool. Also a few rule changes and help speeding up their sign-in process, and offering re-buys or reentries.

    The new prize pool I am working for them to offer would be between $2,500 - $5,000 per week guaranteed instead of the $1,000 they offered last week.

    Now the casino itself was NICE! It was small, but more then large enough to hold a good size event, once they build up their player base.

    I also heard they are talking about a future hotel on the property. Currently the closest hotel in back in Texas, about 7 miles away. Once they get their hotel it will really help when and if they explan their tournaments for for more then the locals.

    As far as the tournament I didn't fair to well, but I went up the street to Red River and got 2 hour in and qualified for their next quarterly event in October.

    I forgot to mention

    Fridays tournament up at the Kiowa casino had around 50 players signed up by 4:00 pm for their $1,000 guaranteed event.

    No re-buys or additional entries were aloud in week one, but as I posted above, I think that will be changing soon.

    One think that really surprized me was they have a very nice steakhouse on property. I haven't been to all the Oklahoma casinos, but of the ones I have Tulsa Cherokee has been the only other Oklahoma casino I've seen with a steakhouse.

    Once they get there hotel build, this will be a nice place to host some events.

    I only live a few miles from Kiowa and Comanche, I overheard lots of locals that I have never seen playing blackjack enter the Friday Kiowa tournament. For $20 they got a free seafood buffet. They thought that was a nice bargain. I didn't select the buffet option.

    I think these cheap tournaments do bring in lots of locals that have never played blackjack before. Some of them become real players. Not great players, but players.

    My opinion is that Kiowa is more a tourist destination and Comanche is more for us locals. I still go to both, but I just have a more neighborhood feel at Comanche.

    Comanche Red River stopped their No-commission promotion, sometime last week. There are lots and lots of rumors surrounding the reasoning.
