Seems like Oklahoma is starting to become more popular. I've been posting on OK blackjack. WSOB qualifier at the Durant casinos. Some nice tournaments at the Cherokee casino in Tulsa. The upcoming $1mil tournament at the Comanche Lawton/Devol casinos. I did finally meet somebody from this site who is playing in the $1mil tournament. Maybe see more of you next year.

Stormy and I plan on playing at Cherokee that week. It seems like the larger open tournaments are getting harder to find. Guess I'll have to bump up my live BJ action a bit to get more invites. Monthly TBT events would be a good way to go. Hint, Hint.

Yep, open events are getting hard to come by...

Eric (Woods) up at Cherokee casino in Tulsa is really trying to start building up their BJ tournaments. They already offer some pretty nice size poker tournaments (partly because of their sponsorship of Scotty Nyigen).

At this time they are hosting both BJ and Poker events at the same time (the reason the BJ tournaments start in the evening time).

Eric is also trying some new format concepts; good or bad is yet to be determined. In one of the February tournaments he will allow re-buys into the current round, Yep! If you bust out of need more chips you can simple buy more (DURING THE ROUND). I'm not sure I am crazy about that idea, but I'll give it a try.

He also is going to offer a "Bounty" tournament. Each player will rotate as the house and has to put up all their money to bank the table. If the house lose's so does the player banking that hand! I am really not sure about this one, but if I am up in Tulsa when it is being played I am sure I'll try that one as well.

I have no problems with trying new formats, I just prefer the (as toolman say's) the conventional style of play. By the way, a conventional format is what will be used for the main event.

And Thrasht, I got your hint...LOL. And I am trying to get the TBT up ASAP, but it is out of my hands now, it is up to the casinos. Most casinos’ I am dealing with are trying to plan their 2007 event schedules now. Hopefully they will included a TBT monthly in their 2007 plans.

This is what I experienced at Hustler last night, but here you could buy 20 minutes into a 45 minute game no matter if you were busted or not. I vote no and would even risk a double vote NO! This approach will boost all in bets and wildcat prowl. Also, Im not sure ,at Hustler, if the intra game rebuys went to prize pool.Im sure in OK they would do that, right?

    Oklahoma State Blackjack Championships

My name is Eric Woods, and I am the Blackjack Tournament Manager here at Cherokee Casino and Resort. I would like to extend a personal invitation to all blackjacktournaments.com players to attend the Oklahoma State Blackjack Championship. The event will be an action packed week. Along with hosted the Oklahoma State Blackjack Championship, Cherokee will also be offering the Oklahoma State Poker Championships during this time. Below is the table games tournaments that we will offer, and the formats of the tournaments.

    Tournament Blackjack Rules:
All tournament rules will apply to all blackjack tournaments, (Sit n Go, Two Table Satellite, and featured events). Each table will host 24 hands of blackjack. A chip count will be completed prior to the 21st and 24th hand being dealt. The final chip count will be completed after the 24th hand is dealt. Each player will start off with $1,000 in tournament chips. All bets must be made in increments of $10. Players may split any two like cards three times to make up to four hands, including aces. Double after split is allowed, except on aces, as aces are only dealt one card. Late surrender will be offered for ½ of the players original wager. All double downs will be dealt face down, and dealers will stand on all 17’s.

Tournament Standards for tournaments hosted on February 5, 6, 7, and 8, 2007:
All of the featured events will start at 7:00 pm. The buy-in for each event will be $100. Players may choose to add $200 in tournament chips at the beginning of the first round of the tournament for $5 (Staff Appreciation). Players may re-buy back in to the tournament in at the table for $50 at the table prior to hand 12 being dealt, (Except during the Ultimate Texas Hold'em Tournament). Players may also buy back into another opening round of the tournament while seats last. The two players with the highest chip counts will move onto the next round. All bets must be made in increments of $10. Cherokee Casino and Resort will add an additional 10% of the prize pool, making all tournaments payout 110%.

The prize pool payout will be dependent on the tournament participation for events on February 5, 6, 7, and 8 and will be as follows:

    <18 Players
    1st - 65%
    2nd - 35%

    19-30 Players

    February 5, 2007 Ultimate Texas Hold’em Tournament
The blind levels will increase every 10 minutes. Each player will start with $500 in tournament chips. Each table will play the required number of hands until two players remain at the table to advance to the next round. A bank button will be used to determine who is the banker. The bank button will start at first base. After each hand the bank button moves clockwise. When it’s their turn to bank, players must risk 100% of their chips. The bank moves clockwise, beginning with that player, collecting losing bets and paying winners. Once the banker runs out of money, he is eliminated. If the banker can not pay all players, then the bank will pay as many players as possible from the banker’s left in a clockwise rotation, and then the banker will be eliminated from play. The banker will always qualify.
The action starts with the player to the banker’s left.
    • If a non-banking player loses all his chips, he is eliminated.
    • If a non-banking player cannot cover the minimum Ante, Blind and Play bets, he must go “all-in” by placing all his chips on the Ante.
    • Dealing procedures:
    • Always deal from left to right, starting with first base.
    • The betting order starts with the player to the banker’s left and it proceeds clockwise.

When reconciling action, start with the player to the banker’s left and proceed clockwise. The only exception is to first take folded wagers and add them to the banker’s chip stack.
    Opening Rounds Blind Levels
    $10
    $20
    $30
    $50
    $100

    Quarter-Final Round Blind Levels
    $30
    $50
    $100
    $150
    $200

    Semi-Final Round Blind Levels
    $100
    $150
    $200
    $250
    $300

    Final Round Blind Levels
    $200
    $250
    $300
    $500
    $1,000

February 6, 2007 Bounty Blackjack Tournament
The format of a bounty blackjack tournament is as follows: A dealer button will be used to determine who is the bounty. The bounty will start on first base on the first hand dealt. After each hand, the bounty button moves clockwise. Each player must risk 100% of their chips when it is their turn to be the bounty. The dealer will start dealing to the left of the bounty first. The bounty will not receive cards, as they will be playing the dealers hand. After all players have had their chance to either hit or stand, the dealer will follow the house rules of hitting their hand. The dealer will then pay/take from the bounties chip stack. If the bounty can not pay all players, then the bounty will pay as many players as possible from the bounty's left in a clockwise rotation, and then the bounty will be eliminated from play. The player who knocks out the bounty will receive a prize, (The prize is yet to be determined). Each table will play until two players remain. Betting limits will be $10 to $200.

I'm making my arrangements for Oklahoma. I'll be there for every event except the first day's Texas Hold'em event. I arrive on Tuesday Feb 6th, and depart on the following Monday.
I look forward to seeing some of you there!

The hotel room rates are $79 during the week, and $104 on the weekends. This is a discounted rate for tournament players. Rooms can be comped based on live play. If you would like to make room reservations, I can set them up for you.

    Live Play Requirements

Does the State Blackjack Championship have live play requirements? They did at Red River last year just to play in the weekly.
