One on one BJ "tournament"

Ok here’s a question I ask because I really don’t know if this is possible or even legal. I know there are lots of people out there who would know so here goes:

Let us suppose that two players wanted to have a “heads up” BJ tourney amongst themselves. Now because there aren’t any heads up tourney’s out there (with the exception of LVHMD) they decided to walk into casino ABC and reserve a table (one player has connections) Now this table is a $25 to $2500 limit, 6 shoe deck with ok rules.

Now both players decide to buy in for $1,000 and it’s only the two of them at the table – no one else can sit and play. Remember it’s reserved.

Now these two players decide to play 20 hands and who ever has the most chips at the end of 20 hands wins this “heads up” tourney. They’ve got a side bet of lets say $1,000.

Now to make it interesting they decide that you have to play each hand, just like a regular BJT but after each hand they switch seats so that the “button” goes back and forth. This way the house dealer doesn’t do anything differently.

Oh and at the end of the game the chips on the table are yours to keep. If you go bust – oh well you lost the $1000 to the house AND the $1000 to your opponent.

    So two questions:

    1. CAN this be done
    2. Has anyone heard of this happening?
    3. What to you think the “house” would think of this?

    neat

Great idea. Sounds like it should work if the casino will allow for the private table.

Most casinos have very strict & clearly posted rules against "side bets". The switching seats might give away that there is something on the side.

    k41 and a half:

Why not just have the two participants "toke" a mutual friend, to deal, buy six decks from the gift shop and do the whole deal up in the room? No harm. No foul. Anywhere. Still bragging rights. Then youse could go to the best 99 out of 103.

Really? I've never seen that posted?

    To Noman,

Grabbing 6 decks and dealing in a suite/room opens the door to "sleight of hand".

I was just asking because of the format that was supposed to occur in Laughlin. I figured it could be done at a table - using legit methods. Let the casinos know that hosting those type of events can be a win-win for everyone

You can't be serious about this?

Would YOU play in a heads up match against someone with a dealer like Antonio Esfandiari?

I mean there was talk about "collusion" in the formerly proposed 1-1 format earlier (talk which I dismissed BTW). But in a "suite" with a double deck being dealt it has all the making of a con if ever I heard one.

No my asking about this being done at a table was several-fold:

    1. Is it legal to make side bets at a Casino, say Mirage or MGM
    2. Would the casinos allow players to change seats after every other hand?
