PartyPoker has added a $250,000 blackjack tournament to their PartyPoker Million Cruise. To get a seat, you'll have to play a lot of blackjack there though. The top 100 wagerers on blackjack get awarded the cruise and a seat in the $250K tourney. Here are the details: http://www.partypoker.com/news/partypoker_million/bjcruise_home1.html If you don't already have a PartyPoker account, use this code when you sign up to get 20% extra up to $100 on your first deposit: Bonus Code: BJT100
Fool's gold ? Kenneth: as a service to your constituents on this web-site, can you give us the math on essentially flat betting $100 against a poor penetration game. The value of each the 21 cruise packages including entry in the BJ tournament is said to be $5,800. Is it worth the try? :joker: :joker: :joker:
Party Poker I may be incorrect but without revisiting the web site I understood the rules to be you get 1 home run for every $100 bet total not just $100 bets per hand.
Yes, it sounds like you get one "home run" point for every $100 wagered, no matter how large your bets. Of course, the house edge is the same on whatever action regardless of whether you do it with lots of small bets or fewer large bets. There's no way to know yet how much wagering will be required, but with the large player base that PartyPoker has, expect it to be very big. The rules: Betting $1 to $200. 8 decks, 10% penetration. Dealer hits soft 17. Split 3 times to make 4 hands. Blackjack pays 3:2. The rules don't say whether you can double after split, but I'll assume you probably can. The house edge for flat-betting is around 0.69%. So, every "home run" will cost you about 69 cents. The value of the entry at $5800 would be eaten up after you earned around 8405 points, or $840,500 in action. Will a substantially lower amount of action than that be enough? Who knows.
Expensive cruise It sounds like it might get real expensive trying to win one of the 21 spots on the cruise. I read where each seat is worth $2,100, but is that what you win or including the cost of the cruise? Keep us informed on how expensive it gets or if it is worth signing up for.
PartyPoker BJ continued.... Further consideration must also include the format of the ultimate prize, the 100(?) players $250k tournament. Accumulation vs elimination, etc.? I also wonder how the other 79 players will qualify. Perhaps by way of a $2500 entry fee? In any event, I am sure that we all look forward to Monday and the leaderboard. Great marketing for BJ on PartyPoker. Is Global-Player paying attention?
Yeah, satellite BJ tournaments would be interesting. Think they have something in the works? It is also possible that they could award the packages via poker tournaments.
Anybody played the Party Poker yet? I was just checking to see if anyone from this site played at the Party Poker blackjack cruise tournament yet? I am interested in knowing what kind of money will need to be played to qualify for the cruise.
Not yet. I have not tried it yet, but I think that the game is pretty awful. The overall value of each of the 21 packages is $5,800 ($2,500 for the cruise for 2, $2,500 for the BJ tournament and $800 spending money). So, if you lose less than $5,800, it makes some sense. If you lose a lot less than $5,800, it makes a lot of sense. The answer will be in the leaderboard.
I played a little today. I never did get a chance to resplit Aces, so I don't know if that is allowed. The rules state that 10% of the shoe is dealt before shuffling, but I can't see any way to tell when the shuffle occurs.
The leaderboard is posted now, at http://www.partypoker.com/news/events/pp_wtleaders.html It is quite obvious now that this is a worthless promotion. The leaderboard includes activity for under three days of this 14 day event. Already, the lowest place that will get a cruise berth (21st place) has wagered $450,800 at blackjack. If we assume the pace stays the same, it would take more than $2 million in action to get a seat. At their crappy game, that amounts to an expected loss of more than $12000. And, I expect a last-minute surge in action as players compete for that 21st spot. I guess we'll all have to wait to see what other methods they plan to use to award seats. Surely they will offer something more appealing than this. Bonus Code: BJT100
Agree. But, wow, someone supposively put over $1.75 million into play over the 3-day period! So, I am wondering if there is some kind of triple-points promotion or something.
Party Poker BJ $250,000 Hey Kenneth: is that you (Ken23) in 13th position on the leaderboard? If so, good luck!!
No, that's not me. I would guess that I played less than $2000 in action the other day, so I have fewer than 20 "home run" points.
