Payouts - 6 versus 4

?

Which payout structure do you prefer?

  1. Pay all 6 people at the final table - less of the pie

    60.0%
  2. Pay only top 4 at the final table - bigger slice of pie

    2 vote(s)
    40.0%
  3. It doesn't matter to me - I don't like pie anyway ;-)

I played in a tourney at Bet21.com and noticed that the final table payouts were for 1st thru 4th only. There was 6 at the final table but positions 5 & 6 didn't win anything.

Now this increases the prize for 1-4 but if you're 5 or 6 tough luck

Which is better paying top 4 more

    OR

Paying the final table with less?

    Another Option Needed

You needed to include another option reading something like, "It depends on the size of the tournament and prize pool."

I would've checked that one. A two-round, 21 player MTT with no rebuys and only a few hundred bucks at stake doesn't need to pay all the finalists. A four-round, 200 player tournament with multiple rebuys and a hundred grand at stake should pay all finalists and semifinalists.

Just my opinion, and you know what they say about opinions... :D

I agree with Monkey. They are currently basing it on the number of entries, which is fine with me.

    Really?

    How do they determine that?

I just know that in two (2) MTT 2 rounds that I've played in they only paid the top 4.

    What is the formula?

Great point - I tried to correct the poll to add that choice but it wouldn't let me. I hadn't thought about that one

I don't know the exact number, but it's around 20 or less that they only pay 4 spots. Somewhere above 100, they increase the spots to pay semifinalists as well.

Typical for a poker tournament is to pay a little over 10% of the entries, rounding to full tables when it is more than 10 winners.
