Pearl River Casino in Philadelphia, Ms is resuming the weekly BJ tourney, each Tuesday. 25$ buy in and a 5000$ prize pool. No word on effective date of start nor the casino from which the tourney will be held.

  2. Great news Mike. That is perfect timing for me with school almost out. I have two PRR floor people who play in my monthly poker game. We played last Sunday and at that time they hadn't heard anything about the tournaments starting back up. Both of them work on the Golden Moon side of the street. Did your source know if the tournaments were going to be at the Silver Star or the Golden Moon?

    Bjack Tourn. Pearl River

A friend told me the tournaments have begun at the Golden Moon. Tuesday 5/6 was the first. Did anyone play this tourn.? If so how was your experience?
Just want to get a heads up because one of our players was told they were having the tourn. at the end of the season last year and they didn't have it. For me it's 3 1/2 hrs. on the road and I just want to make sure they are up and running.

Jim, I received the monthly mail- out for Pearl River Casinos stating :The weekly blackjack tournaments are back by popular demand every Tuesday:.
I don't know if its held at the Moon or Silver Star. The mailer was for the month of May.
Like you, it is a long drive for me, and would hate to make the drive without playing the tournament.

  5. I can't make next week's tourny (5/13 is the first day of our state-wide standardized testing) but I will be there the 20th. If no one beats me to it, I'll get some sort of report up.

-BJack tournament held @ Silver Star last night.
    -Same format as prior tourn.'s.
-Next Tuesday's tourn. will be held @ Silver Star as well but, they will be switching back and forth 'every other week' to the Golden Moon across the street(according to tourn. host).
-Early registration (4-5:30pm)at main cage of host casino.
-Glad to have it back though this place is truly an exercise in humility. They throw inexperienced dealers in the game w/out propper tourn. rule instruction, weak rule enforcement after countless attempts of constructive criticism, constant bickering and get this............... before we start play on the first round...............the tournament host starts reading the rules and we are advised that if there is a table that comes up short of their original check count; EVERYONE at that table is disqualified:flame: Talk about starting on a negative.
I'm thinking about trying to put something constructive in writing just to give it a shot....this could be a good tourn. w/ just a few important changes.
Jessica and Temeka work hard @ logistics but this thing will be easy to talk myself out of w/ the 2 1/2 hr. trek and average 2:30 a.m. arrival back at the ranch!

    !@#$%^&*()

    Post Script:
The Silver Star BJack tourn. was two deck pitch face down. I asked about the rules for tucking a BJack and taking insurance in order from the marker puck and I thought they were going to call security, handcuff me, and escort me out!
 Use Extreme Caution When Contemplating this Whopper:eek:

    local madness!

    Hi JimP,
Thanks for the info on Pearl River. I can relate to you regarding local tournaments, our's in St. louis is the same. They will hardly ever change anything. The proplem is that the tournament pit bosses don't play tournaments therefore they don't understand why we want to change something. They seem to take sugestions as bitching no matter how you ask. But in general it's a good tournament and only a 45 min drive gets me home by 11:00 pm.

  8. I played this tourny a couple of nights ago. As stated, they are a little short on dealer training. In fact, they were doing the training 10 minutes before the tournament started. Still, it isn't a bad tournament, especially for a weekly local event. I expect them to get a little more proficient in dealer efficiency as they play it a few weeks. Even though the brochure says 6 to a table, they were putting 7 on all the first round tables. My rebuy table only had 6 players. They only had 8 rebuy tables so they added 2 more wildcards into the semis.

Registration is well run. If you get there early enough, you can register at the main cage but will have to wait until the registration table opens at 6 to get your table assignment. Temeka and Jessica have been doing this for a while and their experience shows.
