    Hi everybody,

Pioneer Casino in Laughlin has been running a tournament about every 3 months. http://www.pioneerlaughlin.com/ This last one was Dec 3-4...usually $220 entry with $100 re-buy....was a little light in attendace this time but is a good tourney. I finished 2nd this time and have won it before....took 1st in March's tourney....Definitely interested in finding a tourney that has a seat for the WSOB..... been looking at UTE but it's a bit of drive and could be bad weather......considering it though....

    1st place was about $4000
    2nd place $1700

They have a good group running it....roughly 30 people this last time but it was right after Thanksgiving weekend... so it might explain the lack of attendance this time.....

Thanks for the reminder. I had forgotten about the Pioneer tournaments. I've never played there, but they've had a fair number of decent size events in the past. They tried at least once to host a $100K event, but it was cancelled far ahead of the event because of low signups.

Please post any future events you learn of to the Event Calender.

    Pioneer Fun

Yep, there was mention of it in the January mailer. What is funny is I always get slot and vp special tourney mail, but never anything about the blackjack tourneys.

Pioneer has been experimenting with two Texas Hold Em tables on the end of the pit.

They recently went a different direction in Sassy Sue's River Bar puting in darts, pooltable and a jukebox. What got my attention was the twelve new beer taps featuring flavors not found anywhere else on the river.

Pioneer has decent VP and runs alot of promotions. Craps has been $3/10x and real single and double deck BJ.

Check out the Pioneer's website. They usually answer inquiries promptly. A good bookmark is www.laughlinentertainer.com , the weekly magazine that has hot links to all the Laughlin casinos.

    Details please

    Mrospi,

Sorry you didn't cash this time. I am a fan of the Pioneer and try to get there monthly. But I never have seen one of these $25k events. Do they use six tables in the pit?

They have room for 126 starters in the morning. So is there a fight to get into the rebuy rounds in the afternoon...still six tables? They just sign-up one rebuy round at a time? Do alot of players rebuy?

You make it to the Meet and Greet in Sassy Sues Friday night? They buy you a beer and a chicken wing?

What kind of room rate did they offer tourney players? I am used to the weekday "Getaway" nights I earn for only $1k coin-in for VP.

    Hi Oneeyedjacks,

The tourney was set up on 3 tables with usually 6 or 7 each with 1 player moving on to the semi-finals for winning their table. I believe they had 3 rounds, 9am, 10am, 11am...so that would have made for 9 people in the semis.... I did the first re-buy and there were 3 tables then with 1 person advancing....also had my name selected by raffle ticket for a 2nd re-buy ... each re-buy cost $100....There was plenty of interest in re-buying.... never seem to have a lack of people still wanting to get back in the tourney for a chance at winning. One rebuy at a time to give everyone a fair shot, the raffle ticket chance was due to filling up the tables at the later re-buy round...some peoples 1st re-buy.... some peoples 2nd re-buy.

I was in town in time for the Meet & Greet.... It was decent little spread....some snacks & 2 tickets for drinks.... alot of the same group that usually enters the Pioneer tourneys.... I definitely recognize the return players.

As far as room rates, I do believe they give a discounted rate but we stayed next door at the Colorado Belle for the 1st time...a little nicer room but I like playing cards at the Pioneer....My favorites in Laughlin are Harrahs & Ramada for the rooms in general....like the Belle & Pioneer casinos for playing....Hope this helps...

Already booked Imperial Palace for their tourney in Vegas in April..... Looking to win some tourneys & build my resume for next years WSOB....Take care

    Any bar game betting?

Thanks for the feedback. I guess that makes sense, filling up the tables in the opening round. Using the multiples of seven as a cut-off. They probably could get more rebuy money though if they did the six original tables with 3-4 at a table. Sure their is more overhead with dealers and cutting into the regular BJ action. I guess the final table really wouldn't get much more $$, just more semi-finalist cashers.

The March Mailer/Calendar had an interesting blurb on the front page.

Quote "100% of entry fees minus a $20 gratuity per entry"-really wonder who gets the gratuity?

So any side action on the Darts or Pool table during the event? Only if I could get them to put in an early 1970's vintage Gotbleib Pinball machine...

    Bring back the silver ball!

Personally, I'd prefer a Bally Malibu Beach bingo:cool:
