Playing split hands deviates from BS in Tourneys?

    Hi

From recent strategy posts and a clip of a "Be in Action" that I heard with Ken S on it I gather that sometimes you need to deviate from BS when playing split hands. Are there specific rules to follow or does it very much depend on the specific situation you are in?

    Cheers

The most common situation when basic strategy does not apply is when you need to win both splits. In most cases, that means you should not hit a busting hand. Your best chance of winning both splits is for the dealer to bust.

Even more complex are the possibilities of doubling after split to offset a possible push on your other split hand! It can get pretty involved.

As always, it depends on your situation.

    Split tens

    Reachy,

In live play you would never split tens, but in the last hand of a tourney I have split tens valued cards out to three hands, and then doubled on one of them when I received an ace. I just needed more money on the table. It moved me from BR4 (out of the money, top 3) to BR2, in the money. Sometimes desperation works:laugh:
