Proposed Global Player enhancement

I wanted to get some feedback on this idea, that Global Player is considering implementing...

Let's say a particular tournament is scheduled to begin at 3 pm, with round 2 beginning at 5 pm. They could allow each table to start immediately upon getting 5 players. Then, whenever a table is completed, the players who failed to advance to round two could rebuy immediately. As soon as a table is full, with original entry players or rebuys, it starts immediately. Repeat as desired.

This allows unlimited rebuys until about 4:30 pm, when they would stop being offered. At that time, the last round-1 table would start with however many players are present. If only one player is there, he or she advances automatically. If two or three are there, one player would advance. If four or five are present, two would advance.

At 5 pm, all qualifiers could head to the semifinal tables.

This sounds good to me, as it permits unlimited rebuys, and it allows players to participate in the event even if they arrive late.

    Opinions?

    Global Player Enhancement

    Ken,
This format sounds great to me and I think Global is leading the field with innovation for online BJ tournaments. Now a question; I have played 8 to 10 tournaments at Reno and one invitional at Palace Station, LV but just recently attempted to play online and my credit cards won't advance funds to Neteller, I played the liberalcasino.com Wednesday the last 4 weeks and finally after a 7th and two 4th place finishes finally won 2nd and $200 1/5/05 My problem is I attemped to transfer the $200 to Neteller Monday of this week for the Wednesday Global tournament but as of today (Thursday, 72 hours later) the transfer of funds is still pending although Liberal states funds will be transfered within 24 hours, is this normal with online casinos? Thanks

A few days delay is not unusual online

I have no experience with liberalcasino specifically, but it's not unusual for online casinos to be slower than they claim in paying out. It's less of an issue now than it was a few years ago, but it's still not uncommon.

In this particular case, it could be because you've never deposited via Neteller, which at least gives them the convenient excuse of a delay for security reasons. I'd either phone or email them and see what they say.

For future reference, I think it's generally a waste of time to try credit cards, either at Neteller or directly at the casinos. If you have a debit card however, that's likely to work. The most reliable method I've found is the EFT transfer from your bank account to Neteller. I use the slow but free method, which generally takes about a week to see the funds in Neteller.

While I'm at it, I'll point out that Global is generally among the fastest payers out there. I've actually seen them transfer my winnings within one hour, though it's usually a few hours to Neteller.

I like the idea. Everything leading to a higher prize money pool is highly appreciated. :)

    Sounds good to me, too

Those sound like great ideas, Ken. In giving players that much flexibility, it should really increase the amount of interest/number of players for the online tournaments.

    new idea: single table tournaments

The logically next step would be single table sit-and-go tournaments, as common in all poker rooms. How about that?

I would be there day and night...

    Draw backs

I had suggested the re-buys to Global for when we start the cruise satellite tournaments, so that they could get more prize money in and off set any event not completely full. This would hopefully assure enough prize money to cover the three trips and still have extra for the secondary prizes.

Now as far as the unlimited re-buy's here is the draw back, the quality of play will go down hill due to the fact players can come out betting the max. knowing that if they lose a first hand $500 DD they can turn right around and re-enter and if not jumping out to a double max. bet lead. Another thing that you have to be aware of is that this style of re-buys will be at full price not half like at the land base casinos. It has to be due to the fact anyone can play in them that comes in late. If you want one or even two scheduled re-buys they will offer them at half price (each).

I don't have a problem playing either way. I just want everyone to be aware of what can happen.

you're right about quality of play

You're right on about the potential for DD on the first megabet and then rebuying till a max lead. But, like you, I'd play either way too.

    loose players

I like the idea of extra-loose players DDing their max bet on the first hand.

Casually, they will cost me a rebuy. However, in most cases they will be adding more to the prize pools than winning...

    Bigger prize pool

Yes, the prize pool we be a lot larger by offering unlimited re-buys. I am not trying to rain on the parade, I just wanted to make everyone aware of the negitive as well as the positive of this format.

Once the cruise satellites start up I'll just be watching since I am putting on the cruise events. As far as the other tournaments I'll still donate to the cause...LOL.

A Lone Cry in the Desert

I like the idea of a rebuy for a second chance or even third chance. But unlimited chances????? You know, that sounds to me like the old saw of, " given enough monkeys with typewriters........"

Currently,Global's tournament has about 50% (+/-) participation. If the tournament was sold out, that would significantly augment the prize money. A full tournament should be the objective. Fill the tournament. Have more participants. Global has a well run tourney. I believe it will fill up with time.

With the current participation, how much additional money will 2-3 tables render? Next, if there's only 1-2 people at the rebuy table, is it equitable that one would advance to the next round?

    My suggestions are:
    a) Two scheduled rebuys. Last rebuy at 4:30 pm.
    b) Rebuys to be at full price
    c) All rebuy tables must have at least
the number of players at the tables when
the tournament started. So, if there's not
4-5 players at the rebuy table. It's a no go.

I'm looking forward to Globals tourneys. The playing field just has to be
    level for all the players

    Liberal Casino (MIRTH)

Mirth, Sorry I missed your question. Yes I did get paid my winnings at liberal casino but it took almost 3 weeks, 4 phone calls and an email after my request. I got the same neteller excuse you did.

    Time?

As it is now, the tourney is over rather quickly, but under the rebuy format this thing would last for over 3 hours, right? I like the idea of more money in the pot, but I sure like the quick tourney. They are having tourneys twice a week now, so instead of slowing things up with rebuys, why not play at a new tourney later and keep the time down? Maybe they could have them BOTH WAYS at first and see how it goes.
