They are starting up bj tournaments in Yuma again, after more than a year without them. This one is being held at the Quechan Resort and Casino (Q-Resort) which is located at the Los Algodones Exit off I-8, about 10 miles west of Yuma. This is the same tribe that owns Paradise Casinos in Yuma, where they held tournaments previously. Prize pool is $5,000, and entry/reentry is $30/$20. Expect a large turnout, as snow birds are here, so could well exceed 100 players. Especially since they are holding on a Wednesday, which is the day seniors get free play. They have always paid the announced prize pool regardless of turnout when tournaments were held at Paradise, I would expect this to continue. If like Paradise tournaments, lots of rebuy opportunities, possibly a wild card to the final table (depends on turnout). If like Paradise tournaments, all tables are seven players, single advance. May drop to six players, single advance, depending on turnout. Q-resort is a large resort, with hotel, pool, golf course, etc. - more than 1,000 slots, more than 30 tables, and I don't think they have been drawing crowds like they want. So evidently starting bj tournaments again to draw in patrons. Hopefully will keep them going through the winter season. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make the tournament, as I have to work that evening.
Updated Event I have updated the event with a little more info in the event calendar. Tournament starts at 6:00 PM Arizona time (5:00 PM California time). Format will be the same as the ones that used to be held at Paradise Casinos. This is a one off event, but, they are looking to run a tournament every month or every other month if this one is successful.
