A friend of mine was playing in an Elimination Tournament. There were four players remaining. Several table observers were openly rooting for the three "regular" players to advance.

New (unknown) players are not part of the "group." They may feel there is collusion involved if they lose even if there isn't any.

We want to encourage new players so that we don't keep taking money from each other. Playing against 3 players who know each other + the observers rooting for them will discourage new blood from returning (imho.)

Be respectful of everyone at the table.

Good point. It also applies at land-based casinos, where I know I'm an offender as well. So many of us know each other that it is easy to "gang up" on the newcomers. Do try to keep an eye out for new players and make them as comfortable as possible.
