Ok, here's the situation: I have a conference I'm assisting in Lawrence, KS on the 20-22. I'm driving out leaving either late on the 17th or early on the 18th from home in San Diego.

This gives me Sat/Sun to hit tourneys enroute. and if there's anything in the Lawrence/KC area on Monday night, I can sneak out to do that as well.

Then either Wed night, or more likely Thursday early morning, heading back West. Can stop at will, and take time as needed. Route can be south via PHX/Yuma or north via Las Vegas.

Anyone between these points know of anything worth it's salt for stopping?

    KC Tourneys

Come see us in KC. We have many decent players here that battle it out twice a week (at least). Sundays at Harrah's at 4pm. Upstairs in the pit next to the Twist bar. 3 first rounds starting at 4 pm, 5 pm and 6 pm. 4pm and 5pm have 7 players at 6 tables with 2 advance. 6pm has 7 players at 4 tables with 2 advance. Semi's are around 6:30. 4 tables with 8 players, two advance. Payoffs depend on the number of players but if full, first usually is over $1100.

Monday is Ameristar at 7 pm. I don't play that one as often. 2 first rounds instead of 3 so max number of players is 84, not 98. Payoff is more heavily weighted toward 1st and 2nd then Harrahs.

Sounds really good to hit the Harrah's one, as I play well in multi-advance.

Now to work out my travel time to get me there with out breaking speedlaws! :D

Lawrence to North Kansas City is probably about 45 minutes maybe?

Something like that from what I remember from last year. I just have to remember to bring a local map instead of winging it.

    No map needed

Pasman21 is correct, 45 minutes. The following is the most direct route I have found. At Lawrence, take I-70 east 34 miles then stay left to get onto I-670 for 3.5 miles. Take exit 2N heading for I-35/St Joesph/Des Moines approx. 3 miles then exit 6A (Armour Rd), right on Armour Rd 1.2 miles then right on Chouteau Trafficway. Harrah's immediately ( .1 mile or less) on your right.

The driving killed me with a later than planned start from home....and barely pulled into Lawrence in time for the end of the workshops.

Long, long trip. Dropped in on the Lucky Star somewheres in TX, I think. Won't play cash there again...collection, hit to 16, stand all17. What was I thinking? LOL

    Must have been in Oklahoma

Sandy the only casino we have in Texas is in Eagle Pass (South Texas). The Lucky Star must be in Oklahoma and they do have the .50 to $1.00 antes per hand.

Ahhh, all I knew at that hour (late night) was that I was east of Amarillo on the I-40 and that with a name with "Star" in it...why shouldn't I not be in TX?

Concho, Oklahoma is east of Amarillo

You were up around the Texas panhandle east of Amarillo, but still in Oklahoma. If you go to list of casinos you'll see Lucky Star (2 of them) listed in Oklahoma and the one in Concho is listed off of Hyw. 40.

Not sure how far from Texas you were, but several Oklahoma casinos are located withing a few miles of the Texas state line.

Ahh, that's the one we got to then. It was really late at night and we weren't really paying attention to where we were along the road -- just pulled off and followed signs. ;-)
