Just read this story sounds like this man could be the answer to all UIGEA nightmares! (Just to make clear below is an article copied from U.S news and is no way my views) Texas congressman and Republican Presidential hopeful Ron Paul has announced that his campaign raised $3.25 million so far today as of 8:39 EST. The haul sets a record for the most amount of money raised by a candidate on the web in a single day. Keep in mind, the day is far from over so anyone looking to donate to the Ron Paul Presidential Campaign fund are urged to visit RonPaul2008.com. Online betting giant BodogLife.com has Ron Paul at 22 to 1 odds to become elected the President of the United States in 2008. Besides wanting to abolish the Internal Revenue Service, Paul was an outspoken critic to the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006. On the eve of the passage of UIGEA, Paul stated, "The Internet Gambling Prohibition and Enforcement Act, should be rejected by Congress since the Federal Government has no constitutional authority to ban or even discourage any form of gambling." Last quarter, Paul raised $5.1 million which match Arizona Senator John McCain's total and crushed Mike Huckabee's total five fold. Ron Paul is relying in his strong grassroots support to raise $12 million in the fourth quarter of 2008.
Ron Paul Just found this from today as well, Who lnow vote this guy in and he may turn the white house into a casino resort Ron Paul Defends Online Gambling at Hearing At a hearing this week in Washington, 2008 US Presidential hopeful Ron Paul defended online gambling and the rights of individuals to bet over the Web. The long time Republican Texas Congressman is the only candidate to have voted against the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act last year. That piece of legislation was slipped into an unrelated Port Security Bill later signed by President George W. Bush. US lawmakers listened intently as individuals were brought in to both support and argue against online gambling at the Washington hearing. Gambling911.com has encouraged online poker and other gambling enthusiasts to submit their own video questions to the upcoming Republican CNN/YouTube Debate related to the UIGEA passage and each politicians position on the matter. Since the YouTube debate espouses "Internet freedom", the subject matter (and responses) could have a lasting impression on viewers. "Wouldn't it be great if they aired a question about the UIGEA or Online Poker during the debate," commented Poker enthusiast, Scott Shuller. "Really put them (the Republicans) on the spot." Ron Paul is proving to be a viable candidate. Only six months ago he was not even on the radar. Last week, Paul managed to raise just over $4 million in a single day via an Internet fundraising campaign, all from mostly small contributions. Oddsmakers across the globe now place Ron Paul 3rd only after Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney, the later of whom he has closed in on at a number of Internet bookmaking establishments offering betting odds on the 2008 Presidential race. Paul wants to abolish federal income taxes, blames U.S. foreign policy for global terrorism and calls for an end to foreign aid.
Trouble is it's not just my business it's every single person on this forum and in the BJT and poker world who one way or other has been screwed by Uigea, anyone who stands up against UIGEA, A policy which was cheated upon the American people under the disguise of dealing with terrorists, Deserves to be put on the spot light within these pages. Am sure people on here can decide who they want to vote for but something as important as this gets told, I wonder who you vote for because your comment certainly does not echo free speech
Mace, Tom is referring to you posting your thoughts on which candidate to choose. I don't think he minds you posting the information, just not who you think we should choose as our next President. Having said that, we do try to keep politics out of the forum.
I never said what if any candidate to vote for, As if Mickey Mouse could change UIGEA and ran for president i would bring it to this forums attention, But thinking about it Mickey is way to busy running our country at the moment  My only wording added was the name of the thread: Just read this story sounds like this man could be the answer to all UIGEA nightmares! - not forcing anyone to vote and Just found this from today as well, Who knows vote this guy in and he may turn the white house into a casino resort May be this is what you were tallking about but was actually a joke! , But going back through my posts under news you will see i have posted over 15 different topics, Within the getting rid of UIGEA information range, Covering bills etc from all political viewpoints. I spend a lot of time every week digging for new hope that your great Country will one day be rid of this evil and freedom will return once more :celebrate
While I personally feel that Ron Paul would be a disastrous presidential choice, unless the forum has a specific prohibition for political subjects, the post should probably be allowed. I know Ken gives a guy on his other site a HUGE amount of latitude to post some of the most un-American (and I don't use that term lightly), off-the wall crap I have ever read - to the point that I actually stopped visiting the site. FWIW, as long as the UIGEA exists, Gamblers are involved in politics. Maybe if we had all been MORE actively involved with politics, it would have never passed in the first place. Remember, government gets it's power from us, the people. If we offer no dissent or resistance, then they will take a mile of our freedoms, security and hard-earned money. However, I would strongly urge Ken or another mod to move this thread to the "Anything Else (No spam)" forum, where it would probably be more appropriate.
