According to Rushmore casino, they will no longer be offering blackjack tournaments from April 8th, 2010.

"RTG and 21Gnet ( tournament suppliers) have decided not to continue working together."

RTG is RealTimeGaming, the software supplier for Rushmore casino among others. 21GNet is the tournament network that originate with Blackjack21.

This will affect many online casinos. A quick glance at the 21GNet partners page shows these:
Rushmore, Cherry Red, DoylesCasino, ClubWorld, SlotsOasis, INetBet.

There may be other RTG casinos whose name I don't recognize.

  2. Regarding the 21Gnet game

I payed on this software for a couple of events through Doyle's Room yesterday. What do people know about this site and software? Does anyone have any opinions, observations or experiences that they can share with me regarding the software or the company? I would like to get some feedback before committing and serious money to the game or the site.

Are you aware that this is the same thing as blackjack21.com? You were asking about that site a while ago.

  4. I never played there when I was offered to last year or so.

So I have nothing to compare to draw that conclusion. I did play a couple of sit and goes at Doyle's room yesterday, however, while I had a layover at an airport. It seems as if you are familiar with the software. Can you provide me with any information or opinions on the game, how it plays or the software provider before I commit more time and money to this product at this site? Thanks in advance.

From Ken's post, it sounds as though Doyle's Room might not offer the tournaments for much longer.

I've only ever had an account with blackjack21.com, so I can't offer any comparison of the different sites. But there are a couple of potential issues to consider (in addition to RTG's apparent withdrawal) -
    • Some sites (including Doyle's Room) may offer site-specific tournaments, in addition to those shared across the entire network. I think some also may offer free entries into certain tournaments as bonuses.
    • There are withdrawal fees, which may differ from site to site.
The software itself is OK for the most part. I get very occasional connectivity problems, but nothing major. The biggest issue is the short time (20s) you get to act, combined with a fiddly interface to count out your bet using virtual chips. It still catches me out from time to time. (Why not just let us type in a number?)

I mostly play the mano-a-mano version of the Sit&Gos, plus as many of the MTTs as I can fit in, given that they tend to be scheduled for an American audience, meaning that I should be tucked up in bed.

The vig is generally 10%, but some of the MTTs can offer an overlay (or indeed be freerolls). In particular there tend to be a couple of significant tournaments per year, with satellites leading up to them.

The player pool has steadily grown over the years (but maybe is now set to shrink). The general standard of play is fairly poor, so I've been able to do fairly well.

I'd recommend you search the forum for previous discussions of blackjack21 from me and others. Most of the threads I've started in the strategy forum have been related to the tournament rules used there.

  6. Thank you for the reply Colin

With a renewed confidence from your words, I'm going there to play another one right now.

I agree with you on the clunkyness of the betting procedure as well as the short time limit to make said bet that goes with it. I lost a $20 mano a mano sit and go yesterday because of that.

    Thanks again for the information.
