Monday night, March 10th, my dear friend Roy Powers passed away.

Roy was a fantastic man - always optimistic, well wishing and friendly to everybody, always unbelievably vivacious and at the same time amazingly tactful. His graceful manners helped him win other peoples’ hearts, but quickness of his mind won him scores of trophies and prizes in variety of casino tournaments.
I was privileged to spend time with him during tournaments and beyond, often sharing Roy’s unquenchable appreciation for life in which he always could find so much beauty.

...I loved you more than you will ever know
a part of me died when I let you go
and I loved you more than you’ll ever know
a part of me dies when I let you go.

    (lyrics Jason Wade)

    Very sad news...

Mr. Roy Powers was one of the nicest gentleman I ever had the pleasure of meeting and was an excellent tournament blackjack player as well.

I was very lucky to have known him and gotten to play against him on several occasions. He would always have a big smile on him face and shake my hand at every tournament we were ever at and always ask me how I was doing.

My heart goes out to his wife, who was almost at every tournament he played in, supporting him along the way. And to Jarek M., who I know was a very good friend of Roy's.

Mr. Powers you will be missed my friend.

I too, would like to express my condolences to Roy's family. He was always such an upbeat guy and I know that I NEVER saw him in a bad mood. We lost a real good person.
Had Roy been in ill health? Don't remember when I saw him last but I think it may have been at an Orleans BJ tourney within last year

    Sad indeed!

Roy and Marty were one of the nicest couple on the Stardust, Riviera, Frontier/ Golden Nugget tournament trail of the olden days. Roy was a true tournament road warrior and my wife and I had the pleasure of sharing many glasses of wine and meals with him and his wife. He was always quick to run to the bar and come back with enough drinks for the whole table.
I shall raise a glass to you Roy! May you rest in peace.
