Should I split my 20?

2 decks dealt face down, min: 5, max: 500

3 players remaining and 2 will advance. On the last hand, I am br3 and first to bet. The other two players have about $400 lead over me and they bet 350 and 400 respectively, so I bet table max. I was dealt a pair of 10 and the dealer shows a 2 as an upcard. Without knowing other two players' cards, should I stay on this hand or should I split? What happened was that I splitted my 20 and got two stiff hands. The dealer made his hand, all players lost and I didn't advance.

I think I should have stood on my 20, because it is almost a sure thing that I would win. All it takes is for one of the other two players to lose and I would advance. What do u think?

    Stand

In a face down tournament the value of your hand if not known to your opponets has more value than you know.If you were to split your 20 you would now give your opponets all the info that they need. They will know your exact total on both hands.

If you split they now can play their hands acording to you results .Since you are behind by 400 even splitting does not lock up a win for you.You would win 1000 they were ahead by 400 plus bet 400 and 350 then now could DD behind you and take back the high and still have the low .

You must be playing an awful lot of tournaments to have all these situtions appearing before you,I'm jealous.I remember the days when I was allowed to play this much.

Thanks for the pointer and yes, Joep, in my area, there are tournaments everyday especially on the weekend. You know Washington State comes in second after Nevada as the state with most casinos.

    Round Trip?

    Joep,

Maybe the fuzzy face picture from the American Casino Show (GVR) did not make it to Washington State and they would let you play there! LOL!

Heading out to Vegas in a few weeks, maybe I'll run into you again Downtown.

    Weekend recommendations

    Darklord,

I was surprised when I checked out the event calendar and found so many local tourneys like you said when I filtered for just the northwest, particularly on the weekends. If someone wanted to come up and play for a weekend (arrive Friday night and leave Sunday evening) how many tourneys could you squeeze in and which ones would you recommend? Also which city would you fly in and out of?

You will fly in and out of Sea Tac airport. If you arrive friday night, then you can squeeze in 4 tournaments on the weekend. I would recommend the following locations for tourney because they are only within 20 - 30 minutes drive from Sea Tac airport.

NorthStar Casino (10 minutes drive from Sea Tac airport): 2 decks tournament on Saturday and 6 decks tournament on Sunday beginning at 2:30 p.m.

Roman Casino: 6 deck tourney on Saturday @ 7 pm

Iron Horse Casino: 2 decks tourney on Sunday @ 7 pm

Each tourney takes an average of 3 to 4 hours.

    Good information

Thanks, I'll have to tuck that away for some weekend when I can convince my wife to do a quick trip just for the weekend. Of course her idea of a nice weekend trip isn't hitting four tournaments, but maybe I can convince her we will have time to check out Seattle too.

    :D
