I cant remember if I read about this at www.blackjackinfo.com or here. Here is a follow up... http://abcnews.go.com/TheLaw/story?id=3772215&page=1
After reading the articles and watching the ABC news clip I can tell you what this slot player is going to get, $2500. The machine was to pay $2500 max and has a clear marking near the slot that says all bad payouts are void. Not to mention he is going to have a hard time suing an Indian casino.
This was an obvious machine malfunction, It sux that it told the player that he'd won a big pot, but all other indications were that the max payout for that machine was, indeed, $2500. I'm rarely one to take the casino's side in such an argument, but this guy is trying to take advantage of a malfunction.
It would almost see, to me , the manufacturer/programer of this machine is to blame....... Who in the hell programed it to say a player had a 1 million + payout?
If I'm not mistaken, most modern slots have quite a few different games programmed into them. Video poker is the most obvious example. That way, all someone has to do is open the cabinet and change the game with a switch. My guess is that somehow two programs got crossed up.
I agree. The guy got a losing combination, so I think paying him $2,500 for a nickel machine is pretty generous. I don't blame him for wanting to sue, but it sounds like he's trying to take advantage of big pockets here. As for the error, the machine probably has software to support progressive jackpots, and somehow, the machine accidentally triggered it.
